Great place to get to know the history of the area!

Offers great views of the Rockies! Nice trails to walk. Get to see what hot springs look like in their natural state. Its pretty beautiful! A place to go to in Banff!

I visited the Cave & Basin as a kid and never knew it was also the site of an internment camp during WWI. Amazing site, lots of information along with the great stinky water experience! The walks were easy and full of informative plaques but we weren't lost if we skipped a few. Recommend this for families and history buffs... More

This site has interesting exhibits, spread out in different areas, outside and parts of the building, well set up for crowds to disperse and go through. Cave & basin is super cool; can only fit about a dozen people in up close to the pool (no swimming in this special pool, can't even dip your fingers in as it is... More

Thanks so much for your review. It is a little walk up from the parking lot. As an FYI for next time - if you check-in with our team at the Welcome Centre, they can open up the gate allowing vehicles to drive up for those with disabilities or who may not be able to walk up to the site.... More

My first time here and loved it. It was great seeing it for the first time. Lots to see and it's also free this year because of Canada's 150th birthday.

Parks Canada is celebrating Canada's 150th Anniversary so the admission is free for 2017. This place is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. We especially walking the two discovery board walks above and below the historical site.

Not being a fan of history I did find this place interesting! Was good to read a bit of the background of the park. The cave would've been therapeutic to sit in but the smell was awful! Staff were friendly and informative, and on hand to answer questions. Amazing views from up top. Worth a visit for sure.

The Cave and Basin National Historic Site is an informative tour on the history of Banff and its hot springs. The cave itself is a short walk underground through the main museum, during the weekday it was not overly busy and you are able to enjoy everything the Historic Site has to offer in around 60 minutes.

Went to the visitor center & decided to walk from there( about 20 min walk). The walk is good except for the slush on the road. Cars were going fast & got splashed a few times. Saw a herd of elks on the way. You get a very good insight into the history of national parks & how it started.... More

Thanks for visiting (and for walking!) to our site. As an FYI - the ROAM bus Route #4 has started and runs Friday-Sunday to the site if you'd rather not walk back downtown next time. Glad to hear you enjoyed photographing the inside of the cave. More

We had never been before and were pleased with this historic experience. Great visuals and videos. and some staff in period clothing. We are hoping to come back to do the hike up top!

Thanks for visiting for your first time! Come back and enjoy the boardwalks and hikes in the area. If you like staff in historic clothing, there will be even more on the pool deck this summer as part of our seasonal exhibit. More

It has a narrow and icy road to drive you in the parking lots. Not a lot of walk inside this site, but a long way to walk up from parking lot to this site. Cave and Basin National Historic Site is small, but well maintain. Staffs are helpful infront of gift shop and next to the outside hot spring.... More

Thanks for visiting - we had a lot of cold weather this winter and the road was quite icy (that's March in the mountains) but is clear now. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Banff! More
