With clear, blue water, Lake Minneanka is a nice place to visit. The boat ride is fun and you get some cool facts about the lake. There are trails and camping areas around the lake, where bears can be seen from time to time. Visited...More

If you were not told this is a man made lake, you wouldn't know. Still has the colour of a glacial lake (Greenish), Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop to the lake.

A very nice lake to visit although not one of the most popular it is well worth a visit with lake tours available. You cant compare it with the other lakes but stunning views of the mountains.

Overly crowded people everywhere! But I did enjoy the views. Its a lot different then a lot of the other Lakes in the area. There is also a little snack bar if you wanna grab a bite to eat. They serve hamburgers and hotdogs.

Drove from Canmore to Lake Minnewanka - beautiful and scenic drive. The lake itself was just mesmerizing- crystal clear blue water and very photogenic. Boats available for rides. My family loved it!

We enjoyed Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack so much that we went two evenings in a row. Lovely hike around the edge of Lake M. Saw big horn sheep both days by Two Jack.

We decided to take a hike around the lake, which didn't turn out to be around the lake at all, so if you are looking to do the same just stick to the shoreline. There were some bears spotted in the area recently, which didn't seem...More

There have been some good-old cold spells this winter (-30 DegC for almost a week) that have given the lakes some thick ice - 300 to 600 mm thick. However, the temperature swings have been extreme and you may luck out with... More

I would look into the gondola or a view from a height. The lake is beautiful but surrounded by mountains so I don't think it would be my first choice. Try to get some elavation.
Is the lake frozen? I'm visiting Banff on May 8 - 10th. Will the lake be frozen then?

Hi Eusamo, I was at the lake a couple days ago, it's not frozen yet, but my guess is it will be within a week or two. The ice typically leaves the lake early to mid May. The last two seasons we had our boats launched by May... More
