Quick stop
Sep. 2020 • Couples
Well, our stop wasn’t so quick because we actually wanted to see a train pass through. We had time to kill and it was a beautiful day so we waited 45 minutes for one. Even without the train though, it is definitely worth a quick stop if you’re on highway 1a already. There’s a parking spot off the side of the highway, and even though it isn’t a very busy highway, be careful when you cross the street to the lookout.

Beautiful Pit Stop
Aug. 2019
Beautiful pit stop whilst travelling north from Banff to Lake Louise.
Well worth stopping at and if your lucky the train will pass through when you are there.

Beautiful scenery, nice stop
Jul. 2019 • Couples
"We have been meaning to visit this location for a number of years. If you enjoy trains, have seen CPR photos of trains with a mountain and Bow River scenic backdrop, then you must have seen this historic, beautiful scenic vista in photos. Made famous by CPR photographer Nicholas Morant, this beautiful location is perfect to photograph mountains, trains or both. Surprisingly close in proximity to Lake Louise townsite, this a nice scenic viewpoint to take some awesome scenery photos as well as family photos. In the 20 minutes that we were there we noted two families taking group photos. There is parking available in a lot across the road that can accommodate about 8 cars and a nice easy walk to the vista. The paved road provides easy access, and you may continue along the same road to see other attractions, most notably Johnston Canyon. Highly recommended place to visit and it costs you nothing but a little of your time.'
I thought it would be harder to find, but signs designate the location.
