The parkway runs roughly from Banff to Jasper (about 300kms) with lots of viewpoints and places to stop en route. It's a thoroughly amazing drive - one of the world's best roads, with mountain ridges popping up on all sides - and in excellent condition. Favourite stops included Bow Lake and Num-Ti-Jah Lodge, Peyto Lake, Columbia Glacier, and many other... More

A little over a year ago my wife saw pictures of the parkway in a motorcycling magazine we get and said "do you think we can go there". I said why not and the planning began. The Canadian Rockies are spectacular in their grandeur and the Icefields Parkway runs right though some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see.... More

Have ypur camera ready on this drive. So many gorgeous sights around every corner, some many glaciers, so many mountains, so many forests, so many lakes.

If you are in this area, be sure to drive the Icefields Parkway. The views are spectacular and stunning every way you look. You won't be able to put your camera down. There are many places along the way to stop such as lakes. Be sure to go to Peyto Lake - it doesn't even look real - looks like... More

We were travelling from Banff to Jasper and the scenery on the Icefields parkway was fantastic. Everywhere we looked there were rivers, lakes, mountains and icefields as well as wildlife and plants - this has to be one of the most scenic routes we have ever taken. A word of advice - make sure you have a full tank of... More

This is one of the most scenic drives I have ever undertaken. Give yourself plenty of time to stop at the scenic locations on the way and to take in the wonder of the Rockies, there seemed to be glaciers and lakes at every turn. Peyto Lake was a highlight for me, as was the waterfalls and other lakes. So... More

This was a wonderful place, with a lot to see and do, be careful though as it's far longer than you think. Ask the rangers for time scales of travel time, you'll be surprised.

We had fantastic weather but this route would still have been stunning without. Started at Lake Louise, beautiful setting and the colour of the water(!), then Bow Lake. Petoe Lake is unbelievable for the colour of the water. Lunch at the centre near the Columbia Icefield and then onto the glacier itself in one of the huge vehicles. The Athabasca... More

We went on a coach Tour from Banff to Jasper, using this route, and also returned on a normal coach service two days later. On the outward journey the range of weather included bright sunshine, rain and snow, as we gained and lost height. The 144 miles route passes amongst the Rocky Mountain range World Heritage site through the Banff... More

We have traveled to many places in Europe and thought the scenery in and around the alps could not get any better. Until now. The week of September 24, 2016 we drove the parkway in both directions and found the beauty breathtaking. There are a few parts where the mountains are up close and majestic with snow on the upper...
