If you're a first timer scuba diver, this is the Team you would want to be, pre-dive lesson and pool training is very clear and easy to understand even by a 10 year old which by the way is the minimum age allowed to dive....More

Pro dive staff at the Occidental Grand were fantastic. David Zapata did an excellent job of taking care of our gear before and after diving. Hans was a skilled and knowledgeable guide. I will dive with them again when I return.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Just a comment about the Dolphins - I discussed the subject at length with my instructor who tells me she has to walk through there every day and hates that walk with a passion. She informed me that this particular "Dolphin Prison" - as she put it so well - has seen much reduced interest from the public - a happy result of increased public awareness and movies like "The Cove" - to a point where the operators are looking at closing it down permanently. You see these Dolphin Prison Complexes all over the place between Cancun airport and Puerto Aventuras - I highly encourage everyone to ignore your kids requests to swim with the dolphins - the less money we inject into this subsection of the economy, the sooner they will be a thing of the past - it's already starting to happen! Don't think like "hey, it's already there, it's not going to hurt anyone to go visit". It does. It hurts all of the dolphins that are being raided out of their natural habitats and enslaved and imprisoned in these places for our "enjoyment". Instead, go on a catamaran cruise in the open ocean and watch the dolphins swim in their own home! Oh and don't blame the dive centers and their staff for these horrid examples of human culture - I would say 99.999% of them are against them with a passion - they are for the most part true ambassadors of the underwater world.
