About
In the heart of Ireland, just over 1 hour from Dublin lies the town of Kilbeggan, home to the world's oldest distillery, established in 1757. It is the quintessential Irish whiskey distillery - whitewashed walls, weathered slate roof, brick chimney stack, creaking timber water wheel, even regular ghost sightings. This is no mere "visitor centre" but a real working distillery run by a team of young enthusiastic craftspeople (and a few wise old heads too), skilled in the traditional ways of making Irish whiskey. Open 7 days (except during Christmas and New Year). Whiskey Bar. Gift Shop. Free parking.

Come Home a Mater in Irish Coffee Making
Have a great time becoming a "master Irish Coffee Maker" or making your own special brew. One of the oldest distilleries in Ireland. Tour is small and the guides answer all your questions. Great products, as well.

A stopover on route, well worth it!!
Visited on route, travelling from Ballykeeran in Co. Westmeath to Roundwood in Co, Wicklow. Great parking (we came in our motorhome), a very extensive tour from Michael. Came away with a few purchases! Great that takeaways were given to drivers. A great touch. Highly recommended!

Had a good time at the distillery
Had a good time at the distillery, did the tour and also got to drink a few samples. Spent well over an hour or two here..... Very friendly staff at front desk, and the tour guide was very informative, fun, and kind. The visitor centre is quite big, with a lot to see and take in. Also can sit down and have a some refreshments, and a shop. All in all a good morning drinking whiskey and learning some history. (only negative was the price of the tour was 30 Euros, a little steep me thinks)

    Great tour
Great tour of the original and current factory. The old portion was both beautiful and fascinating to see. We really enjoyed it. The tasting portion was great too! They gave a tasting cocktail to start and then 4 small ones at the end. Our driver got to-go tasters! That was really kind.

    Great Irish Coffee Making Class
What a great class on the proper way to make an Irish coffee. The group was fairly small so there was a lot of personal attention. We got a tour of the distillery at the same time. We made a great coffee and even got to keep our cup when finished. We would do it again every visit.

So Much historical stuff! Great tour!
I enjoyed the Kilbeggan tour, I was amazed at how much history was there. There was so much to see, all of it interesting, and a nice store to buy a nice sweat shirt. I hiope to go back in May for a second visit.

    One for the Road
Really interesting tour from our guide Michael, taking us through the history of the Distillery as well as some excellent whiskey tasting! My better half isn't a spirits fan, but by the end of the tour he had a good appreciation for what goes into a good whiskey. I do like a nice glass of the uisce beatha, and as the designated driver, Michael gave me my samples to bring home. I hadn't known how the distillery was brought back to life by the community, their love for this key part of their local heritage really shines through.

A step back in time, a lovely experience.
Gorgeous history, and wonderful how the community came together to save this place. Our tour guide Tracy was very knowledgeable, patient, and happy to answer questions. We learned about what whiskey profile we each preferred, and they had takeaway drams for the driver. Much appreciated with navigating Irish roads and driving on the left side.

    Very good distillery tour
An excellent stop between Dublin and Galway. We booked a tour which went for around an hour. We were in a bit of a hurry, so instead of spending extra time at the tasting… they gave us small bottles to take away ! Excellent. We are doing our “tasting “ 2 days later !

    Almost missed it
We were driving through Kilbeggan when we saw the Distillary by the time we had decided to visit it were were out side the town we turned round and went back. Probably one of the best decisions we have made. As part of the entrance fee we were given a sample glass with a wiskey cocktail in it which was wrapped in a lanyard. Tracy our guide was very informative explaining how whiskey was made as we walked around sipping our cocktail at the end we had a sampling session with 4 whiskeys. I mention this because if you were a driver they gave you the same samples in little bottles to take away so you could live the experience late. Other distilleries take note. Everybody from the receptionist through the staff to our guide was very helpful. The experience will live on in my memory. And of course I have a moment to remind me

This is an amazing historical site, with a working water wheel, and an amazing tour. It is wonderful how the town has come together to support this endeavor. This is a beautiful example of history in action.

On our last day of 10 day road trip throughout Ireland and visiting many other distilleries we decided to conclude our journey with an Irish Coffee tour at Kilbeggan :) and I am so glad we did! Not just because it was so much fun but it was also not the traditional tour where we were told for the N'th time about how whiskey is made but it focused more about the brand itself and as simple as it sounds about the cool process of making great Irish Coffee - both my wife and I were super enjoying it and and the souvenir coffee glasses we were given at the end are a cool piece at our home

You can still browse around the distillery and visit the gift shop if you want to buy their whiskey (during the Irish Coffee you get to try one Whiskey as well of course which I found really good and got myself the 4pack small sample to enjoy them at home).
