This is truly remarkable. We met Rodrigo at La Zapoteca when we asked for help finding yarn to repair a prized rug we had bought in Oaxaca many years ago. He and Imo spent almost an hour digging through their yarn stash and sent us away with 6 spools that we hope will do the job. And then he said... More

Quality shopping!! Local original art and from all over Mexico. Really nice store. Taxi drivers won't tell you because the store doesn't pay them to do so. But believe me it took 10 days and found it accidentally. A must!!!!

My sister and I bought hand-woven rugs of a traditional design and one of a design created by one of the weavers we met, Martín Hipolito Cruz. We had stopped here early during our stay and looked through a lot of the designs and choices of sizes. There are wool rugs, table cloths and table runners all made by family... More

Martin has been weaving since he was 10-years-old and when you visit his shop on Juan Alvarez, 1 block off of Playa Principal, you will see him weaving on an old loom, one his grandfather made. He speaks perfect english and will comfortably converse as he describes the designs on the beautiful wall hangings, tablecloths, rugs and coverlets for beds.... More

Martin is a rare talent. He does it all! He knows how to talk to people. Shoots straight! His grand mother/father's loom is in his store where he makes rugs and sells them. This is the real deal!!! Check out his spinning wheel. Uses a bicycle wheel. His loom is diff too.

My husband and I got married in beautiful Zihuatenejo about a year ago and brought back a wonderful rug from this shop. The day before we left Zihua we spent the afternoon walking around what I think is the downtown area and came upon this shop. The rugs are amazing and the prices totally unbelievable! We found a beautiful angora... More
