This is the favourite beach for surfers from around the globe. The waves are spectacular. Nice places to eat all along the beach. Would not recommend swimming but great way to spend the day

Not much more to say. Just gorgeous. Not a beach for swimming since it has big surf. But great for walking, surfing, or just worshipping the sun.

This beach has big surf too dangerous for swimming but lots of great wave for experienced surfers. There are many great restaurants and a some with live music!

Beautiful beach, very clean with lots of places right on the beach to enjoy a morning coffee or beverage later on. We were only here for 3 days, waves are huge so take extreme caution if going for a swim! Lifeguards are on duty all...More

This is a very pretty beach to stroll and a serious walk if you go end to end.I don't know about swimming in the waves, but for a beach walk it's wonderful and visually stunning.

We came here for the surf and it didnt disappoint at all. We caught wave after wave 10 plus feet, clean shore breakers. Very nice long beach.

What a great beach to walk. What we liked best was the fact that at night the restaurants turn spot lights on so that the beach is illuminated. It was nice to be able to sit on the beach long after sunset and not feel...More

During a recent motorcycle journey to Puerto Escondido I stayed near Playa Zicatela. I have to say, I was impressed by the size and quality of the playa (beach). It's wide, long and clean. The beach bars/restaurants are spaced out nicely and have good service...More

The beach sand is silky, the sea clean and turquoise green. But there are strong undercurrents which make it dangerous to swim. You can however watch experts surfing while drinking or eating with your feet in the sand. Of course, if you are a surfer,...More

Beautiful beach. Use the restaurant to the left at the base of the stairs and ask for Jose's tables. He'll take excellent care of you day after day if you're not stingy with your tips. Try learing to paddle board or surf. Good for snorkeling...More

Playa Zicatella is just one beach of 4 in Puerto Escondido. It is the main surfing beach (mican pipeline) not a fishing beach. I have never seen any violence in Puerto Escondido and have been going there for over 20 years
