We went on 2 adventures on the Laguna. One with Mike Malone on the 8 km. kayak trip - fantastic and he knows so much about the lagoon and birds. We also went to see the phosphorescence at night and swam. It was incredible. Visiting the Laguna de Manialtepec is a must!

Three of us chose to visit the lagoon with Lalo Ecotours and thought the tour was excellent. We were picked up at 6:30 in the morning with two others and escorted out to the lagoon, about a half hour drive north of Puerto Escondido, where we hopped on our small tour boat. When we first arrived, we were the only... More

We booked with naturalist, Michael Malone, through Hidden Voyages Eco tours. First, we were introduced to the natural mysteries and wonders of the lagoon. We met a Zapotec woman, who lives in a tropical mangrove lagoon that ebbs and flows with a river connected to the sea. We found her after navigating a canal full of many birds -like egrets,... More

A beautiful attraction worth your time. We had a great guide really taking the time to stop for our pictures and showing us the bird. It is different, relaxing. A tip, go at sun dawn less hot and really beautiful.

To really get that best experience you are recommended to go at night, the darker the better, so it can get scary, but once you are there and swimming with the shiny water under the star covered skies you realise its an incredible experience.

Last week we took the opportunity to enjoy three separate Lalo Tours with Evi. He is a youthful and extremely experienced guide who grew up in the nearby community, He clearly is dedicated to his work, has a passion for the birds and nature of the lagoon. He has managed to fit in studies towards a Masters degree in Ornithology.... More

Very well organised boat trip just for 2 people. Guide offered us sweet bread and coffee for breakfast which was such a nice extra!! Laguna itself is very special ecotype in the world scale. Mix of sea and river waters have created unique atmosphere. End of the trip theres a empty beach with one restaurant. When visible, fluorecencia night trips... More

Hidden Voyages Ecotours took our birding group out to look for birds and wildlife and we were not disappointed. The lagoon covers around 1100 hectares and has three rich aquatic habitats which make for rich biodiversity. We saw boat-billed herons nesting and mating, what a highlight! The mangroves are home and resting places for all the herons, egrets, ibis, and... More
