We did the lagoon tour along with the bio luminescence. Lagoon tour the best especially if guide is knowledgeable about birds and can speak your language...English in our case. The small boat cruises slowly down the channel to the beach by the sea...in time for a beautiful sunset. Bring drinks of your choice and swim attire. Mosquito repellant and flashlight... More

I would recommend going at night for the bioluminescents. Go on a night when the moon isn't bright, or better yet when its raining. The biolum's will be at there best when it very dark and the rain would add to the magic. Our night was dark, but no rain. Our tour started at 8pm with a van pick up... More

We took a van with about 10 people out to Manialtepec to see the bioluminescent algae in the lake. The van left at 7:30PM, and drove for about 20 minutes to the lake. Then you get in a boat, which takes you to the center of the lake. (I recommend you leave your stuff, including your towel, in the van... More

We tour Laguna Manialtepec late afternoon for bird watching and evening for the fluorescent experience in the water. Words can not describe it; unfortunately, cell cameras or regular video cameras can not catch the fluorescent color in the water but the experience is for lifetime.

The bioluminescent water is a must see in Puerto Escondido, we had a great guide and a wonderful boat captain. Everything was very safe even though you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere at night.

May was our second visit to Hotel Escondido this year! In January our timing was perfect to swim in the Bio-luminus Bay! Out of this world, rare occurrence that only happens a few places in the world. Definitely a Bucket list check off! AND, our second stay at Hotel Escondido was as perfect as the first time.

If you get to do this tour you should. Amazing! Beautiful scenery that makes you appreciate disconnecting from our very chaotic cold society. Amazing tour!

Eve from Lalo Ecotours was our guide for the morning birding tour. He picked us up on time, 6:30 am from our hotel, and safely drove us in a clean air conditioned van to their business at the lagoon. We are a family of 5, and were the only ones on that morning's tour, so we loaded up in the... More
