Take away the fact that the train will arrive late, relax and enjoy the trip. Food and service were top quality. Scenery spectacular. Made some new friends from USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Singalong in the bar was one of the many highlights. We...More

Unless you are assigned the latest generation rail car, it is likely that you will be shaken, jostled, and swayed so much that it will be impossible to read a book. I can read on city buses and subways, but on the Quebec-Montreal route gave...More

We have done this trip in both directions now, and the train travels through some amazing scenery. We went touring class, worth the money, as you get meals at your seats and wine with dinner! The seats are large and comfortable, and have wraparound windows....More

Travelled from Ottawa to Montreal and back. Trays are terrible...as they cannot be moved forward. Staff always good. Better than driving...but improved wifi would be best.

Unfortunately, I have used VIA at least once per year for the last 25 years and it has gone downhill every single year. As a kid and as a young adult I loved loved loved riding the train in Canada and visited many different places....More

What a shame. One of Canada's great institutions has fallen to this. We booked a cabin for the trip from Vancouver to Toronto - 3 days, 4 nights - at some expense. We arrived at Vancouver Pacific Station to find that our booking, whilst accepted...More

We do not like to post negative reviews, but VIA has a problem which must be addressed. We booked three cabins (at a small fortune) in Prestige Class from Toronto to Vancouver (4 nights, 3 days). The train was scheduled to depart Toronto at 10...More

My husband has always wanted to do the train. We took it from Kamloops to Jasper, stayed in Jasper for several days and then took it back to Kamloops. It was pretty much what we expected except we didn't realize how often it would stop...More

The cabins are identical. However, cabins closer to the centre of the car will be a bit quieter and offer a slightly smoother ride.

Via has a portable step that is in place to help make boarding easier. The train is also wheelchair accessible, and there is always a Via employee to assist customers at the entrance to the car. Hope that helps.
