Doesn´t live up to the hype

Whenever we think of Puebla, we think of "5 de Mayo". A holiday that´s even more popular in the US than in Mexico. And the famous 5 de Mayo date comes from a battle between Mexico and France. When talking about this battle, the most important place was “Fuertes de Loreto”.
Because of this, I thought it was going to be this amazing place with several “Fuertes”. Well, it wasn´t. It was only one of them and kind of small.
The museum was informative, but I was expecting a little more.
Now for the location, that was a totally different experience, I really liked it. They have a “mirador” from where you can see the City of Puebla and a small artificial lake. About a minute drive away we can also find some nice museums.
Overall, the whole area is pretty nice.

Great little adventure, especially for kids

Our kids loved the fort; the canons and fort itself made history come alive. The only downfall to this place is the lack of public transportation that goes directly to the fort. We took a cab there,and planned to take a bus back but at the end took a cab back to the zócalo. The two way street has zooming cars and buses and a tiny space in which to take the return bus.

Excellent opportunity to learn about Mexco's past

One of many cultural/historical attractions in this large civic park, it hosts a wonderful and varied collection of fascinating items. Museums are free on Sundays! Can't beat that value. When you arrive you are asked to take a seat and wait for the next organized tours. It won’t be longer than 20 minutes. Beware, all the museums and military forts at this park shut down their doors one hour before the official closing time.

Fuertes de Loreto

Learn more about your U.S. history while learning about México's. Although you can walk there from the zócalo, it's quite an uphill trek. Take the bus and you can spend more time at the Fuertes, in my opinion.

Can be visited via he Hop on Hop off bus. Interesting and spectacular views from this part of town looking down on the city.

Where Cinco de Mayo Happened!

The Loreto Fort is an impeccably maintained walled fortress, with cannon parapets and a central headquarters building within. The fort is high over Puebla, and provides a great view. This is where General Zaragosa executed the attack on the French invaders that is so widely celebrated in the U.S. (and Puebla) as Cinco de Mayo. If nothing else, you have to stand on those parapets and become one of the very few Americans who have any idea where Cinco de Mayo originated. There is a very interesting museum within the headquarters building, wbich will provide all the background you can absorb. Take a Uber or cab up to the Fort from downtown--from the Centro, a Uber costs maybe $5.

Basically nice view

The place offers one of the best views in Puebla, very nicely built new complex with a water/light show at night, 8:45pm from Thursday to Sunday, which is ok'd., the fort is also very simple but nicely kept, nothing special youth the whole place but the view

Worth a visit

This old Fort tells a great deal about the Mexican history and struggle for independance. There are not too many "displays" but the views of the city from the forts walls are awesome.

Cinco de Mayo and a beautiful park with multiple activities.

This is the site where the battle of Cinco de Mayo took place. Currently there is a huge park in the area. There is a museum and cathedral dedicated to the battle of Cinco de Mayo. There is also a lake where you can rent paddleboats, many splash pad areas for children to play in, many beautiful views on all sides of the park, trails, exercise equipment, statues. There are other museums in the park besides the couple dedicated to Cinco de Mayo. There is also ample free parking.
This place made me wish I had my 5 year old son with me...he would have loved it here.
