I have been to Chichén, Coba, Tulum, Teotihuacan, Machu Pichu, all of these magical and amazing and with tourism to justify their status, Cantona is no different and doesn't fall short in any way when compared to any of these other cities. The place is...More

This pyramids are like no other I've seen in Mexico. The site comprises a large area of terraces and platforms with a few pyramids and, unexplainably, 25 ball-game courts!!! The structures are fairly rustic made of volcanic rock with very few carved stones (mostly kept...More

Probably took around 90-100 minutes or so from San Pedro Cholula but it's good road the entire way and almost all of it is highway. I'd guess it's maybe 15 minutes less if you leave from Puebla's Centro Historico. We spent about 2 to 2.5...More

These ruins are quite spectacular as they are quite different from others I've seen. They have lovely walled walkways, striking vegetation and wonderful views. There is a nice little museum you can visit before climbing up to the ruins. Once at the top, you can...More

Like most of the reviews here, we were super impressed by these ruins! They are expansive, in great condition, and in a beautiful setting. We only saw three or four other groups the whole time we were there...which is really nothing given the grand scale...More

We only knew about Cantona because of the reviews here. I'm so glad we went. Most Mexican ruins all that's left are the major temples, here you can see the layout of the streets, what private family properties were like and more. There are more...More

The ruins are so very different than other ruins we have visited in Mexico. One truly gets a sense of what life was like. There are never many visitors and in the quietness it is easy to hear the noises of life from long ago....More

This vast ancient city lasted longer than most so was maintained longer. The whole area still has city streets and walls with many home platforms as well as larger temples. All in a beautiful natural setting with mountain backdrops.

I did a daytrip by public transport from Oaxaca in order to see this place. The place is huge, and because of the vegetation and surroundings, it is very unique. Would definitely recommend going there!

I visited in February of 2016 on a Saturday and the ruins were all but deserted. It is so large and so beautiful. Make sure to wear comfortable STURDY shoes or sandals as you will be walking and climbing on stone and through rocky soil...More

We would like to visit this site, most likely from Xalapa. Has anyone successfully taken public transport to get there or has spoken to someone who did? We are backpackers so don't really want to spend hundreds of peso on a taxi or rental car. Thanks for any advice :)
