Enjoyable coastal beach strewn with storm blown trees and such like , next to Wairoa river coastal reserve. Great surfing and fishing spot as well as beach combing.

A must see - the span from the Mahia peninsular out to Napier (Hawke Bay). Whatever the weather it is interesting and the huge expanse of sea is beautiful even in a storm.
