- Leanne T27 contributionsHike with Dogs and ViewsThis was a fun experience! The views from the top are amazing! The guide has a bunch of dogs that hike with you. As a dog lover, this was one of my favorite parts of the hike. The hike was challenging in some spots but definitely doable! If you are an experienced hiker, start towards the front of the group, so you can go faster. There are spots you can stop if you need a break. Bring a lot of water because it does get hot.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023
- Amy H12 contributionsLoved this hike!We took this hike on a Sunday morning with Enrique and the dogs. It was such a great hike, and Enrique gave such good information and had a lot of energy. The trail does get a little bit technical and rock scrambly, but if you are in average shape, it will be no problem for you.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 November 2023
- Macenzi S8 contributionsHard hike but worth the amazing views!Went on 11/19/23 @ 8:15am. Current times are Sunday - Friday (not Saturday) @ 8:15 only! Get there at 8 as he starts his talk then and then begins the hike promptly at 8:15. There was a parking lot up the road from his gate a bit that was $2 per hour and about a block away. Difficult hike fore sure but worth it. Steep scrambling incline so wear closed toed shoes with no shade so bring water and wear sunscreen/hat/sunglasses. You can see both sides of the peninsula from the top which is amazing. Great photo op. He does a talk at the beginning and then again like mid-way up. It’s just about being mindful/in the moment and how you don’t need substances to do so. To appreciate the present because that’s the only thing that exists in the moment. There were around 10-15 dogs when we went. So fun!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 November 2023
- Kathy M2 contributionsMy favorite thing to do in CaboThis was our absolute favorite thing to do in Los Cabos. We love hiking to begin with, but the views on this one are so breathtaking that it even replaces Lk. Louise & Banff as my world favorites. There are many good reviews and pictures already here but I have some things to add. We arrived a little before 8 a.m. but had to wait about 15 minutes until Enrique (more about him later) welcomed the crowd inside the gates. So don't overly stress out about being punctual like I was (which annoyed my companions). On the other hand don't be too late either because a man showed up at 8:30 and Enrique turned him away. because he was late. Then Enrique talks at length about the history of the area, magnetic fields and their influences on things, the importance of being present in the moment as there is nothing real except now. Then he yells, "Vamanos, perros!" which is the cue to begin the hike. ( I don't know why, but I found this last bit very charming.) Some reviewers have said he does the hike to get donations for the dogs, but I don't think so. This is a dog training & boarding facility, not a shelter. I think Enrique leads the hikes because he is going to give the dogs the exercise anyway, he likes tips (who doesn't?), and he strikes me as an extroverted, gregarious, entertaining person, who enjoys performing. So his allowing the public to hike with him & dogs is a win-win. It's a side hustle, and I say good for him for being enterprising. The hike will be much more enjoyable for you if you are reasonably fit, not afraid of heights, and very sure-footed on rocks. It is dangerous at the top, where one wrong move will send you off a cliff, but that is where the payoff is. The dogs are very used to people. They are also fast and very well in tune with Enrique's calls to them. If I lived here, I would do this hike every single day.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 November 2023
- Claire DEstero, Florida10 contributionsAmazing Views, Adorable Dogs, Safe for Solo Hikers!I love a good hike with amazing views and I love dogs, so hiking with Enrique was everything! Enrique’s speech was nice-I’ll admit I was distracted by all of the excited dogs running around, but the message was received and I think about it from time to time. The hike gets strenuous at a certain point, so I would not suggest it for anyone that is unable to grab rocks and pull themselves up from time to time. I 100% suggest it for the solo lady hikers out there! I felt safe the entire time, so don’t be afraid to show up alone and join the group! It’s worth it!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 17 December 2023

As best I can tell this is an unsanctioned hike to raise money for the local dog rescue facility. There is no fee for the hike, but the guide requests a tip at the end of hike. I think the money is used to support the dog rescue facility. Great. i was surprised that there were so many people on the hike, I would guess more than 150. Throw in another 30 dogs or so and the trail was pretty chaotic. The hike is challenging, not because of the distance (approximately 5 K) or elevation gain, (approximately 150m) but because of the very rocky terrain and the number of people and dogs on the trail. But, its well worth the effort. The views from the top are magnifico! A tip from our experience: there does not seem to be a limit to the number allowed on a tour, so don't worry about getting there early. The tour guide/shelter operator starts his spiel at 8AM but he was still talking at 8:30 and allowing late comers to join the group. We were there at 7:45 and just stood around for 45 minutes.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 January 2024
- GBCheeseheadGreen Bay, Wisconsin835 contributionsVery Difficult Climb Up & Down!I was not prepared for the strenuous and difficult climb up and down the mountain. There were over 100 people in our group following one guide single file up the side of the mountain. I had to stop half way up to catch my breath. Be sure to pack water and wear good hiking shoes…both of which I didn’t have! The view from the top is amazing… very thankful we didn’t get hurt and ruin our vacation. I will not do this climb again…one and done! Enjoy but be careful!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 6 February 2024
- TraciSRiverside, Missouri90 contributionsDifficult/worth it hikeThis is a guided hike with Enrique, who is also a dog trainer and has his kennel at the base of Mt Solmar. We arrived at his gate prior to 8am & shortly after he unlocks the gate to let the hikers in. (maybe 75 of us) He educates you about the area prior to starting. The dogs accompany you on the hike. The final 1/3 of the ascent is difficult. (uses your hands to grip rocks & pull yourself up) The first 1/3 of the descent can be difficult as well and you'll use your quadriceps for sure. Wear sturdy shoes, maybe a light pack for water, wear sunscreen and tip Enrique when you're all done. (about 2 hours total)Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 February 2024
- Cheryl M35 contributionsFirst visit/no experience climbing!Took the hike today! It was definitely more challenging than I expected from all of the reviews that I have read. It’s very steep for novice climbers once you pass the flat rock on the way up. Once you get to the top the views are amazing and then you get to spend some time with the dogs. If you are a slow climber or near the end (our group was close to 100 people) you can’t hear Enrique and he is AMAZING! Once we started to head down my legs were jelly and I admittedly had to do some of it on my butt. I am so glad I did it but I don’t think I am cut out for doing it again. I order to be truthful in this review my husband was bit (fairly superficially) by one of the dogs when we were standing waiting to get into the dog daycare. We did not tell anyone because we knew that it was at our own risk. I would recommend this to anyone that feels that they can climb moderate rocks. I would not have felt comfortable bringing my 77 year old father.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 20 February 2024
- Sara HGalveston, Texas21 contributionsBeautiful view from highest pointThis is a hike that we brag about! It was hot and easy up until you get to the very top. We wanted a picture by the cross. We got there by the assistance of some man that popped out of the hiking trail. He let us to the top and we tipped him a couple dollars.it was so worth it. We hike this about seven years ago, and I am reminded of it every time I look at this picture! It was a little challenging to get to the cross. It gets rocky and steep.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 March 2024

Hiked Mt Solmar on July 7th with my family. As others have written just show up at the Dog Rescue at 8am for an 8:15am start. Parking isn’t close so take an Uber so you can just be dropped off. No reservations needed. No cost. We tipped $20 at the end. Enrique and his dogs guide you up Mt. Solmar. He stops twice for a rest break and getting to the top took 35 min. We were back down by 10:30 so we spent about an hour up top. He let me fly my DJI Mavic drone as well. We all loved it!!

My wife and I hiked up Mt. Solmar with Enrique's tour and had a great time! Enrique offers the guided hike free of charge at 8:30AM and 4:30PM, and we went at 4:30PM. Towards the top there are some mildly steep scrambling spots but nothing that challenging. The views up top are fantastic, and if you go at 4:30PM you can watch the sunset from the top. Just be careful with your footing and where you climb for that perfect camera shot as some spots are basically on a cliff face. We felt that Enrique was a very accomodating guide and a tip was absolutely warranted! We enjoyed it so much that we might go again for a morning hike.

My husband happened upon a sign at Enriques place that said he'd be leading a full moon sunset hike, so we went. We're in our 50s, daughters in their 20s. I am not the most physically fit person, but managed to get to the top. The views were breathtaking, and Enrique's commentary enlightening. Now, I had it in my head that since it was a sunset hike, we'd scramble up the mountain and back down before dark. Not so. Enrique had us linger until full dark and the moon was fully up and it started to feel like a hostage situation before we hiked down in the dark. I was terrified and lost my balance a lot due to the darkness. I only blame myself for doing this in the first place, yet, I'm glad I did it. If I were to do it again, I'd bring a headlamp and advise all who want to do it to do the same. At the minimum, good tennis shoes should also be worn. They saved my life! I'm glad I did it, and Enrique is very kind to offer this service. Tip him!

A challenging yet memorable hike to the top of Mt Solmar. This is a guided hike up to the top. Wear good hiking shoes, No sandels as this requires hiking up rocks all the day to the top. You come down a different trail, though it is still very rocky. The hike starts precisely at 8:30 am with Enrique as your guide entry fee is free, but please leave a tip for your guide. this is not an easy trail, make sure your thighs and calfs are in good shape. spectacular views!

This is the most spectacular ocean sunset hike in Cabo! In my YouTube video, I show just how breathtaking the views at the top are!
Enrique is the owner of the property and personally guides 2 tours a day. The meeting location is only a 10 minute drive outside of downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Meeting Times: 8:15am and 4:15pm (arrive 10 - 15 minutes early)
Duration: 2 hours
Difficulty: moderately difficult
Bring: sneakers, water, sunscreen, and your best cameras
This is a free hike. I'd highly recommend tipping Enrique $10 to $20 if you enjoyed the experience.

As of September 4, 2021, The schedule for the Mt Solmar hikes with Enrique are Sunday thru Friday only, and none on Saturdays.
Bummer as myself and several others showed for the hike this morning and saw the schedule for Sunday thru Friday only. We were so excited for the hike as we had heard it was a great hike.
Highly recommend going to the gate in advance of your planned hiking day to verify the current hiking schedule for that time of year. (September is low season)

A great hike to start your morning! Need to arrive at the dog shelter about 10 mins prior to 8:15am start.
If you’re driving...there’s a paid parking about 5 mins walking distance away.
Overall you should budget about 1-1.5 hrs for the hike up and down. Enrique will stop to catch your breath and talk about the landscape.
There’s a tip jar if you want to contribute!

Beautiful views.
Get dropped off at the dog rescue (recate de perros) at around 8 am. By 8:15ish you and 20-30 other people will be let onto the property by Enrique. You all and a dozen dogs do the hike, it's not necessarily difficult but bring close-toed shoes and some water. View is well worth it, stunning photos, probably not for those who hate heights however. We were back to the dog rescue by 10 am.

Based on previous posts we thought the start time was 0830. I dropped off my friend at 0825 and drove back to park the car. Apparently the new start time is 0825 according to the current gate sign on September 22 2020. We were going to call Enrique but in the rush I left my phone in the car, ran back to get it, returned and called. Enrique answered and was already on the hike and couldn't return to add us. He did ask if we could come back at 1815 for an evening hike (sunset was at 1915) but we had dinner reservations for 1815 and this was our last day in Cabo so we politely declined. He did recommend showing up at 0815 for the morning hike.
Rule #1. Call Enrique to reconfirm the start time and when to arrive. See his phone number on the attached photo.
Rule #2. Enrique leaves ON TIME.
Five stars to Enrique for taking our call and offering a special evening hike.
On our next trip to Cabo this hike is going to happen.

As a 78 year old male, I’m unable to put myself in your shoes!😀
However, if you are fit and healthy, you should be fine - it’s usually single file and people often stop to take a breather! Take lots of water…… the views from the top are spectacular!
Good luck!
