Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This proved to be an interesting stop on our road trip around Romania. Situated in the small village of Tarpesti, 10km south east of Targu Neamt, the museum houses the collective personal works of Neculai Popa, a folk artist who died in 2010. It is now run by his family and other artists in residence. The collection is eclectic and includes this own artistic work including carvings, sculptures, face masks and costumes plus much stuff collected by Popa himself during his life, including paintings by other Romanian artists, unusual icons and Old Moldovian handicrafts such as thick leather belts and painted trousseaux.
There is an English written guide available if you visit (their son who would take you round was away at the time of our visit) and a shop selling good handicrafts of other artists in residence.
Worth supporting. Entrance 10 leu per person.

The initial collection belonged to the late Mr Popa and was focused on local art and local history. Many objects used by villagers but also archeological findings. Add to that the stone sculpture plus the modern pottery being created there. And the place itself is a museum of old buildings with old furniture collections. A Must see

We were met by the son of the founder of this little gem.
Pops senior had put together an incredible collection, starting with naive wooden carvings and including a collection of artefacts showing Transylvanian life. We are so glad that we made a short detour to visit this museum. It was well worth it. And we must thank our host for his hospitality at the end of our visit.
Don’t forget to visit the ceramic shop in the grounds. We bought a lovely dish there and met the lady who had made it.

A magic place - where art, history, traditions come all together.
You'll be amazed of the variety and quantity of exhibits: naive art (sculptures in wood or stone), traditional costumes, coins, music instruments, painted Easter eggs, carved wooden spoons, tools for agriculture.

This is a privately owned Museum run by a rather unusual guy with help from his family, particularly his sister who served us lunch.
There are all manner of artifacts pertaining to Romania as well as a collection of coins from all over the world.
The stone sculptures (see photos) are all his own work and rather unusual.
We spent a pleasant morning here and then had lunch.
