Either expectations were too high or improvements are needed

The Rolls-Royce collection is impressive but, some achievements should be made as for example:
- the ticket counter employee seems to be making us a favor;
- instead of having detailed information at the entrance of each hall, it should be exhibited by each car as the one there is scarce;
- there are several gaps among the vehicles (probably went elsewhere or sold ?);
- some vehicles are displayed windows opened and show some dust inside;
- no dvd available;

Besides the RR collection the other positive points are the impeccable cared gardens and the last hall inside the castle with old precious antiquities.

Unexpectedly spectacular
Jan. 2018 • Family
The private collection of vintage, veteran and other classic cars, mainly Rolls Royce, is well worth a visit if you're anywhere nearby. It's only open on Sundays and bank holidays and is tucked away among the hills in the middle of nowhere, which makes it all the more surprising. The estate itself provides an impressive backdrop. It's a worthwhile and inexpensive visit for anyone with even the slightest interest in cars and an absolute must for the classic car enthusiast.

Astonishing Car Collection
Jun. 2016 • Couples
We visited this site as a cruise ship excursion, mainly because none of the other options seemed terribly interesting. We had no idea that this would be so astonishing.

This site (accessed by a VERY narrow winding road) has probably the best Rolls Royce collection in the world. Every car is in immaculate condition and each one runs! It includes roadsters, cars used by royalty, a fire engine, sports cars... There are multiple buildings filled with these jewels.

It's important to have a guide, because the printed materials are inadequate for English-speakers. You have to really see this place in person to appreciate its grandeur.

What a surprise

We had travelled through France down the Bordeaux coast then after a few days in the Basque Country made our way towards Santander for ferry home. Wonderful B&B and the owner recommended this car museum as it was only open 1 Sunday a month and we had a day spare. What a find, couldn't believe this wonderful collection of super cars, plus a fire engine !!its twin is at Sandringham. Only downside-very hard to find, no signs and lanes v narrow. We went on to visit very interesting caves again hard to find. N Spain is so interesting with wonderful scenery

We were a group of 13 friends Sunday January 3rd and we had the priviledge of enjoying a guided visit of the rich car collection and the insights of the tower complex!
The car collection is interesting both for car savvy people and those that aren't.
Then, honestly the amazing and unforgettable piece, at least my favourite part is getting to know the story behind the tower complex, see and feel the elegant and époque déco of all the rooms that can host the most select events!
Very Worth a visit!!

A HIDDEN GEM

This the best located and stocked automotive museum! In surroundings that are as amazing as some of the cars. I say best located meaning where it is, not how easy it is to find! Our satnav kept telling us we were at our destination, but there was nothing but countryside. Best way is to follow the directions on their web site. Well worth the effort. Don't approach from the North in a large car, some parts of the track are VERY narrow.
A great stop off on our way to San Sebastian.

The perfect place for a relaxing visit
Jun. 2015 • Family
The car collection is simply amazing and the surroundings are really beautiful. You practically have an old cars exhibition within a castle located on top of a cliff. The place itself is really quiet, peaceful I would say. Entrance fee is only 7 Euros per person and it's all worth it for a nice trip back in time. It's located only an hour's drive from Bilbao so it's really easy to get here if you have a car.

AMAZING CAR COLLECTION HIDDEN IN THE MOUNTAINS
Jul. 2014 • Friends
We visited this museum as a stop gap because our Ferry operator changed our sailing time. We were given a route with took us up a narrow wooded mountain road and I kept thinking that we were going the wrong way. Eventually we turned a corner and discovered a narrow entrance with a sign on for the museum. We were made welcome.
We looked around and observed some single story old buildings. We wondered what we had come to until we were shown into the first building. It was lined with very old cars neatly lined up and all are in excellent condition. We then went into further buildings and was equally surprised at the many lines of mainly Rolls Royce cars. It certainly proves that you "should not judge a book by its cover". This private museum is certainty well worth a visit.

The museum is called the Torre Loizaga museum and the web page is here: http://www.torreloizaga.com

This is an amazing museum near Bilbao. There are six pavilions full of wonderful cars and the setting is amazing. We spent several hours enjoying the cars and the grounds. The other reviews have done a nice job explaining what you will see. The cost is 7 Euros. The museum is only open on Sundays from 10:00 - 15:00

We followed these directions (edited from Wikipedia): Located 45mins drive from Bilbao.
Exit the Autovía A-8 at Zierbena/Gallarta, and head south on the N-634 towards Las Carreras and Somorrostro Muskiz. On reaching Somorrostro Muskiz, take the BI-2701 (this is a very sharp right turn) south towards Sopuerta. After driving through Sopuerta, take the BI-3631 East towards Galdames Guenes (Be sure to take the SECOND road marked to Galdames Guenes), to kilometre marker 33, and then take single lane paved track south marked towards Torre Loizaga. There are signs marked and it is about a 5-10 minute drive on the single lane road.

Castle and Cars
May 2013 • Friends
A beautiful fortress about an hours drive out of Bilboa through beautiful lush countryside. The high tower is surrounded by beautiful rooms in the castle. Around the grounds are six buildings housing 75 autos including 45 beautifully maintained Rolls Royces,Ferraris,Lamborghinis and several classic American cars. This is a must see tour for any classic and antique car buff.
