Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The building of the Verzasca Damm in Val Verzasca i Ticino back in te 60s creates Lago di Vogorno. A 2 km upstream from Lago Maggiore which supports the 105 MW Verzasca hydro power station. The height is 220 meters and the width is 380 meters.

Its a quick trip. Paid parking, go with the minimum time since you'll only need about 30 minutes. You can walk across the top of the dam, see the bungee jumping area, and then back relatively quickly. Small gift shop, and you can descriptions of the power plant below the dam. Bungee jumping is only on weekends, and they have rock climbing (with a harness) on the dam as well.

This is definitely one of the most picturesque hiking trails in Switzerland, Lavertezzo - Dam Verzasca (Verzasca Valley), takes around 4 hours, easy hiking. You could go down from Dam Verzasca to Tenero, it will take ca. 1 hour more

If you are travelling along the Verzasca Valley it is worth stopping for 30 minutes at this magnificent feat of engineering. We parked up and walked the length of the dam. The drop down to the stream below is incredible but you will not find me signing up for a bungee jump!

Intrigued by the advice of friends, we went to the area where the dam is located; actually very high and with a beautiful view around! The paid parking with spaces available is useful... very beautiful emerald effect of the water!!

I went to this incredible dam to do my first bungee jump. Crazy! I remember that James Bond made the leap from this dam for the film "Goldeneye", which according to world polls was the best stunt scene in the history of cinema. The jump must be booked on trekking.ch and can be done from Easter to the end of October

The “Bond” dam made famous in the Goldeneye movie offers amazing views. It’s certainly something worth visiting. You can’t drive over the dam but you can walk on it. At weekends you can evrn do a bunny jmp at certain times of the year. Small shop offering souvenirs and take away drinks but no cafe.

Took the train to Locarno and then rode the Poste Bus (runs every 2 hours, learn the schedule before you go) to the dam. Amazing view.

While there, you can do the bungee jump. It was expensive (255 CHF), but totally worth it. The 750 feet bungee jump is the second highest in the world and was seen in the opening segment of the James Bond movie, Goldeneye.

I went there for the famous bungee jump and I didn't end up disappointed. At 220m high this is one of the highest bungee jumps in the world and it sure gives you your daily dose of adrenalin. The view is great and the jump was amazing.. However, here are some things to know about the jump...

1. The jumps only opens from Easter until end October on Saturdays and Sundays... they will add Wednesdays to Fridays for the main season in July and August, but that's it, so check your dates. The jumps also only starts from noon.

2. There is a parking lot, but it's small and fills up quickly

3. If you take the bus, DO NOT GO to Contra Diga. This station ditches you on the side of a busy road where you have to stay behind the railings for your safety. There is nothing to do there, it is on the other side of the river and the bus only stops once every 2 hours. You rather want to go to Diga Verzasca. If ever you still make the mistake of going to Contra Diga, go down the road, there is a little gloomy trail leading you to the dam after a 15 min. walk.

4. While you're there, you should also go to Lavertezzo, the village is beautiful and so is the river.

5. It is expensive (255 CHF) just like everything in Switzerland, but to me, bungee jumping is the most thrilling activity ever (more than skydiving) and this one is sensational.

Verzasca (Contra) Dam is famous by Bond's jump in GoldenEye. Despite that (and unless you want to bungee-jump yourself which is a service they offer), there isn't too much to see there. You can take a stroll over the cool dam a couple of times and see the river below, buy something in a gift shop but that's pretty much it (bucket list item crossed out).

Note that if you go there by public transport (bus 321 from Locarno), check the return bus schedule as it arrives every 1-2 hours and 1 hour is probably the maximum you'd like to spend on the dam.
