Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a beautiful cave that was really large. Nice lighting, quite calm when we went there. There's a bit of an "advanced path" that can only be done with a local guide apparently but we had a quick, secret looksy and it was stunning!
Not _that_ much other stuff to do in the area, so you need to weigh a bit how much you like caves. We enjoyed it very much at least!

Amazing wondrous cave, we only managed to do the short tour due to lack of time - very unfortunate. Would definitely recommend! Nature never disappoints. The whole place is one giant piece of art. It's sculpture in the museum of nature every where you look.

A beautiful cave to visit when visiting Ban Gioc Waterfall. There’s a few nice formations of stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave. Mostly an easy walk inside the cave with some steps and good lightings.

I visited this cave on the way to Ban Gioc waterfall. One of the beautiful caves and well maintained. It is easy walk through the cave and all the rock formations can be seen clearly. There is a small entrance free (not more than $2) to visit this cave.

We did this tour with 2 kids 4 and 9 y.o. This is a long cave about 1000m and took for us about 1.5 hour. Is is one way - you are entering on one side and get out on another. The cave have 2-3 really tight and low places. I think that these places not for big, heavy or seniors persones. Recommended to visit in hot temperatures outside. In cave was very pleasant around 23-24 C.

We got off the Cao Bang Public waterfall bus at the junction and walked for around 15 minutes to arrive at the entrance.
The views and landscapes here make the walk easy. If you want can hire a tuk tuk from here to take you as well for some $
After you buy your ticket (45,000 VND) make sure to enter the cave from the entrance on the right. There are officers to check your tickets here. Its very easy to go straight on and enter cave through the exit.
There are a few shops to eat and drink and souvenirs.
The cave is interesting and most of all pretty empty compared to major overcrowding in halong bay caves. There is only one path and its cold and breezy inside. Great to escape the outside heat
Cave walk takes around 30 mins at a slow pace.
.
From cave to waterfall 30-45 min walk along the main road.

The cave was not the reason we came to the north. The falls brought us here and the cave was going to be a place that we would stop at if we're had time, not expecting much excitement. The day was hot and humid and we were able to get a ride from a local from the falls area (the temple) to the cave. The cave is self-guided and we had the place to ourselves. It's a beautiful example of a cave system, with a nicely laid out path throughout. And it's a welcome relief from the heat. This is a "must see" if you came for the falls. I recommend getting a ride from a local, there are plenty around waiting to take you. When you are done, you can get a ride back up to the road to flag down the bus to Cao Bang (if that's how you got to Ban Gioc). The bus goes by every 30 minutes.

Unspoilt and not very touristy still. Lots of natural beauty every turn. The cave is well maintained and left in its natural state (no artificial coloured lighting or numerous railings or platform). Quite safe & not very physically demanding. Not many stairs to climb. Lots of stalactites and stalagmites formation to feast your senses with. 3 - 4km from Ban Gioc Waterfall. Worth a visit.

Visiting this cave is easy if you are going to Ban Gioc Falls. It's only a few minutes away. They were doing some major work on the road to the cave when we went there, which required a strenuous trudge up a rocky, muddy track. The office at the bottom will rent rubber overshoes if you don't have "western-sized feet." Otherwise, you're on your own with that!
After the track becomes paved again, you'll pass by some goats and pretty countryside to a small Tay village which you walk through (light foods, beverages, souvenirs and toilets are available here) and then you're at the entrance to the cave (about 600 meters from the parking area). Unlike some Asian caves, no one (thankfully) added colored lights or music to this one. Instead, you get to visit a cave that has, for the most part, a smooth walkway and an occasional handrail and enough - but not too much - lighting. You can rent a flashlight in the town, but you really don't need one to explore the cave.
Inside, you'll see some enormous rooms, lots of stalagmites and stalagtites, some unusual thread-like limestone formations and a few other formations not found in most caves. It took our group a couple of hours to explore the cave and we all agreed that it was much more interesting than we had anticipated.
There were no signs at the entrance about cave etiquette and there really should be some here. Be sure not to touch the formations - they are still being created and the oils from your hands can kill the cave - and of course, no smoking or littering inside, either.
If you're in the area, this is a "don't miss" attraction."

There is about 4km from Ban Gioc waterfalls to Nguom Ngao cave, so it's very easy to get there by feet or rent a motorbike from Cao Bang Motorbike Rental. Good luck

Are you asking direction or mode of transport?
Directions is easily shown if you google it. Mode of transport - you need minimum to rent a scooter or motorbike from Vietnam. Not sure from China, though. You can get a private taxi if you ask around at the Waterfall border market. Most expensive but the best peace of mind is to get a private tour arranged from Hanoi, stay overnight in Cao Bang or Ban Gioc and do both attractions the next day. Hope this helps.
