Just a short drive from San Miguel de Allende, and so worth it! This relatively small chapel is amazing - the history, the statuary, the frescoes. Go and be prepared to be awed. Notice the stones on the threshold as you walk in, worn down...More

We took a taxi out from San Miguel which is only 8 miles away. Since we went early on Monday morning there were only 5 other people there. If you know the Bible stories, it is quite easy to know the subjects of the frescoes....More

A breath taking temple, beautiful gardens around it, full of history and great architecture, inside full of sculptures and religious art. Beautiful

Great "gorditas" to eat at the plaza. Delicious. The visit to the church is a most as there is the major attraction. The candies in the nearby shops are good traditional ones. Very quiet town.

Seeing this magnificent church with it's incredible painted ceiling was a special treat. It's worth the short trip to see it. I think it's best to visit Atotonilco and Delores Hidalgo in the company of a guide. There is so much to see in this...More

This small town is some 5 kilometers or so outside of San Miguel but very well worth a visit. The church is overwhelming once you step through the entrance doors. Every inch of the ceiling and dome is decorated with allegorical artwork-all done by one...More

Atotonilco is a hidden teasure short ride from San Miguel de Allende, and it is totally worth it; they call it "Mexico's Sistine Chapel", and even though it is a little far fetched it is a work of art and has a high historic value....More

The santuario is beautiful. The frescos are amazing, a bit dark, picturing death and flogging but very interesting.

This jewel is close to San Miguel. A taxi ride made it very easy on our way to Las Grutas spa. The chapel is amazing with paintings on every surface. There is a small fee to enter the side wing, and that money goes toward...More

During the week there are spots before and after the church. Weekend can be a bit of a nightmare so best park before you get to the cobble stone entrance and walk in.
