Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The building and courtyard are both worth a visit but the bonus is the art exhibitions as well as the permanent paintings on some of the walls

The gallery has a range of styles, with some fairly high prices. it is mostly well-lit and very peaceful, after the noise of the streets. The gallery area is scheduled for a renovation soon.
Recently, a new coffee shop opened in front of the galleries, using the same doorway. Operated by the owners of Zenteno and La Sacristia, the menu and range of drinks are extensive! Possibly the best espresso available in San Miguel del Allende.

I have taken drawing lessons there and a very basic introduction to photography (exactly what I needed). Pleasant teachers and atmosphere. The drawing class was given by a bilingual teacher and the photography course was given in english

Lovely courtyard with great views from the upstairs. I didn't have time to check out all of the exhibits, but they were mixed media.

This is also known as the Ignacio Ramirez Center and is a branch of the Palacio de Belles Artes of Mexico City. It is house in a 1755 convent and is adjacent to the Convent de la Conception with its significant dome. It has art and ceramic displays, is an art school and used for other events and worth a look.

Loved this cafe. I had Quiche and salad. Great service, and delicious meal. If you can get a table in the courtyard it's beautiful!

Only a block from the center of San Miguel (the Jardin), this historic building houses art classes, concerts, art exhibitions, murals and is also a quiet place to sit and read in the shade. They also have great bathrooms, a library and a bookshop with books on Mexican artists and posters.

The Bellas Artes is a nice place to take classes such as yoga and tai chi; it's a pretty place and is well located. BUT they used to have the most adorable cafe in the courtyard where one could sit for hours drinking coffee and reading and now, after the restoration of the building a couple of years ago, they do not have a cafe. Nor do they provide an excuse to linger, enjoying the fountain and appreciating the plants and birds and butterflies. I liked it much better before they restored it.

my 14 year old son is an aspiring artist and we will be in san miguel this summer. are there summer art classes at Bellas Artes he can take and how do we sign up?
Written 11 May 2019
I don't know if there are summer art classes at Bellas Artes. The classes there are no longer available to anyone but Mexicans but perhaps the summer is different. Buy a copy of the newspaper Atencion when you arrive and check the ads in the back. Often there are teachers advertising classes.
