I just went, in August and although the only overcast day I experienced in two weeks, it was busy. Guess others thought like I did that it wouldn't be crowded. Perhaps earlier in the day would have been better as there are numerous families whose...More

Beautiful grounds but def not the place to relax. It's full of children and families. The pools are overflowing with people and children jumping in and out. There are no regulations so people eat in the pools. Not enough beds to relax. Too bad they...More

Go early before so many families arrive if you want a quieter, more peaceful time. Book a round trip taxi, about 400 pesos incl. tip; you don't pay until they pick you up and return you to San Miguel. Lovely grounds and a succession of...More

I enjoyed a few hours at this hot spring destination with my family. It was really busy with domestic tourists and lots of families. The pools are decent but it's not a place to luxuriate. However, it was a nice break from all of the...More

La Gruta is an amazing grotto. The grounds and pools are beautiful and very clean! The staff are friendly and helpful. We make sure we plan a visit to La Gruta each time we vacation to San Miguel de Allende. My only constructive comment for...More

This is a nice place to go and hang out for a day, and get out of the city center. When we went a couple of pools were closed, which cramped us into two pools. I also had no idea what time the Hot Springs...More

My daughter and I had a nice 3 hours at La Gruta. It's 15 minutes from SMA (about 150 pesos with an exchange of 19/1 at the time). We stupidly dforgot our swimsuits on the trip but there was a small shop with suits for...More

I came here by myself one day, and spent about 6 hours. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and there are many amenities: a bar, a restaurant, a store, showers and changing rooms, a locker area. I would have preferred that the lockers were nearer the...More

They have a version of a sweat lodge. You have to make arrangements in advance. I have not tried it but plan on it for my next visit in March. Have a great trip!

The taxi out there cost 150 pesos but took a local bus back for 10 pesos, getting off at the corner of Calle Hidalgo, so just a 3 block walk to the Plaza Principal, with the garden and Parroquia.
