Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico133 contributions

El Jardin is is the heart of this picturesque city in Mexico's central highlands. It's San Miguel's main plaza, the magnet that draws tourists and locals alike, a public space that really belongs to and attracts a diverse public. Surrounded by little street-food vendors, cafes and more elegant restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, it offers plenty of dining and snacking options. In the evenings, mariachi orchestras serenade the patrons eating at the many outdoor tables or stroll through the well-manacured trees of the park. Locals often join in singing the songs the minstrels perform. Foreign or local, young and old - it's a place for eveyone.

Known as El Jardin, this tree-lined plaza is surrounded by gorgeous buildings such as the parish church of San Miguel. Hanging out here easily tops the list of things to do in San Miguel de Allende. The square is bustling with activity in the evenings and at the weekend. You’ll see roaming mariachi bands, balloon salesmen, and plenty of snack vendors, making for a very lively scene. Many want-a-be artists are scene sketching the church.

Great place to spend an hour or for a meet up spot. Local families often having fun with small children. The vendors are pretty reliable if you are a bit adventuresome. I can certainly vouch for the coconut ice cream. The beauty of the Catholic Parrochia, especially when lit at night, can't be missed.

Plaza Allende is known as el jardin because of the trees and wrought iron benches.
It's like a garden atmosphere in the middle of a buzz of activity all around it. Gives the historic center of the city a small park.

El Jardin and the surrounds ( La Parroquia, etc.) are quintessential SMA. The historical wlaking tour wil give insights into this area. The Visitors Bureau is also localted on Principal, off the square, and gives great ideas of things to do

The garden is beautifully maintained, and the grounds are very clean. Lots of heavy wrought iron benches to sit upon. During the day, sometimes there are children playing soccer with their coaches/parents, and everyone is cheering. Streets are closed off to trafffic around this area, so it is easy walking in the streets around El Jardin. Street vendors, restaurants, museums, art galleries, gorgeous shops -everything within easy distance.

I love this park by the main church, full of people, tourists as well as local people. I find the street vendors are unique that add color to the place. Ample chairs to take a break and do people watch.

It's not really a garden as much as a park or square in front of the famous pink cathedral, la Parroquia. It's in the center of town so you will most likely pass through it at least once! What we loved most is that it is still USED as it was intended...as the center of activity where people gather. It's much busier on weekends compared to quieter mid-week evenings, but always absolutely lovely.

Beautiful, tree-filled park in the central square of San Miguel. Our hotel was just around the corner from this park and we strolled through there most nights as it was always lively and welcoming. Mariachi bands, families, tourists, a nice mix.

Busy, noisy and commercial! Not like so many less commercial towns. All the ‘entertainment’ was there just for the money - no money no show! Music was pay as you go too. Ok lots of festive parades and such take place here so those are good. Very crowded at night - not much fun. Restaurants and bars are not great around here either. Views are good of the church at night and sunset.

It is totally doable . The cobblestone streets and sidewalks are narrow but accessible

what is the cost of the shuttle to the airport
Written 27 January 2015
Hi! I would strongly recommend Bajio Go, where you can arrange a shuttle to any airport (shared trip or not). New vans and trucks, professional drivers and reasonable prices (U$ 150 for a one-pax one-way trip to DF or half that price if it is a shared trip to same destination). Both my experiences were great and it is just one block from El Jardin!
