Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful, just the best spot. Crystalline waters, my type of spot. Access was a little tricky traveling with a 5 years old son, but we found a better place just walking a bit more than the rest of the people. Year safer in covid times.

From the three must known waterfalls in Gerês (this one, arado and Tahiti) this was my favorite. It is a little bit more quiet if you go at early morning. You should be cautious getting there because of the slippery rocks

Great waterfall to go and spend a nice time, access is fairly easy, you'll need to go down a few rocks but when you reach the spot you'll feel it was worth it.

Definitely, is a beautiful waterfall, but no easy access. We carefully, trailed down to lagoon area with our kids. Kids won't be able to access waterfall area though.

We spent three nights in Porto and invested one day for an excursion. The choice fell against the Douro Valley and for the Peneda-Geres National Park, followed by a drive through the Vinho Verde-Region and back to Porto down the Northern Coast of Portugal. We left the hotel at 10:30 and drove to Braga. After Braga the roads became more narrower, windy and scenic. We entered the park at noon and continued over the peak at 840 m down to Portela do Homem. After a short walk and some simple climbing, we had found a spot above one of the pools. It was a Monday, but we were not alone. The scarce seating places on the rocks gradually filled up. Despite that, there was time for a refreshing bath in one of the pools. We continued across the border to Spain, down the lonesome hills to Lobios for a short loop through Galicia and back into Portugal through the Peneda-Geres Park. The impression this park left was untypical for Portugal: mosses, ferns and lichens in dense forests, cold mountain rivers and temperatures. Drove then through the Vinho Verde Region to Viana do Castello and back to Porto. A worthwhile day trip.

I went here on the strength of the other reviews on this site. It's certainly worth the journey. We came up from the Portuguese side and the drive up was incredible. Steep winding roads have beautiful views of the valleys below.
The location itself was much easier to walk to than we had envisaged. Other reviews suggest that it's a long walk. It isn't. In fact, you can see the pool from the road.
Okay, you have to park about 500m away up the hill but once you've walked back down, the pool is a short 100m walk up a stone path and then a slightly tricky scrabble down the side of the falls.
My two boys 11. & 10. braved the cold water and dived in but that was enough for them.
If you fancy a walk you can continue up the stone path for a good few miles.

This is located in the fantastic place. If you are driving from Geres or Campo do geres I would recommend to travel from Campo do Geres because you will have a opportunity to visit Rio Homem too. Cascata da Portela do Homem is really beautiful with crystal clear water which is amazingly beautiful, the waterfall and small rocky pond.
I started my journey from Geres. There is no public transportation to go to waterfall unless you get hotel coaches. Many people make journey on foot or by bicycle. I get public bus from Braga to Geres and after that I made the journey in bicycle. From Geres to Campo do Geres, once you reach campo do Geres, Rio Homem is nearby than follow rough road that will lead you to Cascata da Portala do Homem. You can enjoy rocky mountain, dry mountain, curvy road leading to mountain, natural beauty, forest on the way from Geres to Campo do Geres.

An awesome spot to stop for a bit. Very beautiful but you need to be careful because it's difficult to reach. Amazing pictures and time that you can spend over there.

It's not just the waterfall, but the spot as a whole that is really beautiful, and the climb down is easy to do

This is a great hiking spot. You can walk through the stones into the falls, or just go around and up, to see the falls. Either way, you have to do both! Perfect. :-)

Posso deixar o carro e ir a pé? É gratuita a entrada neste espaço?
Written 27 September 2018
A entrada é gratuita.
