Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a fantastic experience. Claudia was our host/chef, and she welcomed us immediately when we arrived, offered us delicious watermelon water, and asked us about our experience with Mexican food and what our favorites were. When all the guests had arrived, she started explaining how she was going to be making all the food (two different salsas, tacos, quesadillas, ceviche, and strawberries with cream. She did most of the work but we got to make the tortillas and do a little bit of the prep work. It was a good balance of us contributing but not having to do too much chopping and other prep. She was very knowledgeable about why certain ingredients were used and the traditions around the various foods. Best of all though, she seemed to truly love doing the demos and spending time with all of us (about ten people). I am totally blind, and I didn't share this info with her before my arrival. She was totally unphased (most people get nervous or awkward), and she was easily able to do the tiny amount of adapting of the activity that I needed to fully participate. This was probably the highlight of my trip to Tulum.

Lily was a good teacher and very kind. She showed us how to make pico de gallo, guac, ceviche, tortillas, quesadillas, and tacos al pastor. The food was delicious and she was very helpful in teaching us.

The only thing I would recommend changing is having us cook and prepare more of the food, a lot of the food was discussed and we prepared part of it and then it was taken away to be made by her assistant (like the tacos al pastor, guac, pico de gallo, quesadillas). If you desire a more hands on class, something to consider.

We had a great time with Lily, learning from her and would recommend this class! Enjoy :)

We had a fantastic time visiting Lupita in her home and learning to cook some traditional Mexican dishes. Our hosts were very friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent teachers. We had a great meal and I immediately went and ordered a tortilla press so I can practice what I learned at home.

During our Tulum getaway, we signed up for a cooking class at Riviera Kitchen. Lupita warmly greeted us at her family home where we met two fellow Canadian guests for the morning session and lunch. Lupita guided us through the art of creating an authentic Mexican spread, detailing the ingredients and methods used in traditional dishes. We dove into making salsas, crafting handmade tortillas, perfecting quesadillas, and even tried our hand at making taco pastor. The highlight of the day was a fun mezcal tasting experience. Lupita's enthusiasm for cooking and her cultural roots shone through as she shared her knowledge, not forgetting to mention her love for her furry companions. It was a delightful experience and definitely worth adding to your agenda in Tulum.

Lupita was such a wonderful host! She shared her home, her pets, and her culture with us with nothing but open arms. The food was incredible, and the success of it was to do with Lupita and her helpers. The instructions were easy to follow and her energy was lovely. I was so happy to learn Mexican cuisine in such an authentic way, was definitely a highlight of my vacation! Thank you for sharing your recipes and culture, would definitely recommend :)

My husband and I were lucky enough to attend this class on March 12th and be the only students. We learned so much about the authentic flavors of Mexico and the ingredients that create these flavors. We are now back home and can't wait to go to our local Mexican market and ask for the real ingredients to make the real food! Do not hesitate to book this, you will not regret it!
on an aside bar, I would really love to get the recipes for the al pastor, the guacamole, the tomato salsa and the soupa de la mama we made, they were sooooo awesome! thank you

This was a lovely experience. Lily was a wonderful cook and a fabulous host! She loved teaching us about her culture, language, and of course her cuisine!
She rescues animals too, which we appreciate. The other couple we were with were from South Carolina and a joy to meet! Highly recommend this experience if you want a taste of the Mexican culture! ♥️♥️

Lilly was so welcoming and her home was lovely. Both me and my partner agreed that her cooking class was the best thing we did whilst visiting Tulum and would highly recommend it.

We are SO glad we booked this experience. Lily was delightful! We felt very welcome in her home and her personality kept us laughing. Her family members were also very welcoming. We not only learned how to make yummy, authentic food, but we got an education in her culture as well. It was fun to meet and mingle with the other members of the group also. One of the highlights of our trip!
