I do not recommend it. The Scuba company at the Riu hotel sold it to me as a snorkeling activity for $69. I had to participate in a Mayan ceremony, which they had not told me about, I did not understand anything about the native language. The smell of smoke/incense made me sick. I was forced out of respect to do what they asked and I found it very unpleasant. To snorkel in caves and open lakes there are much better options. The water was cold. I only saw some purple fish with silver scales and some little turtles swimming around. Low cost/benefit

Swim and snorkel in the open air cenote and the cave cenote. The staff were helpful and the prices are reasonable considering you can swim in both cenotes. They charge $20 if you use US dollars, but the rate is much better is you use Mexican Currency ($350 Pesos). Enjoy!

No large tour buses here - lots of locals to view the 3 great cenotes. The last one has linked caves that you can swim across. Lots of divers go exploring but simple snorkeling is great. Reasonable entrance fee (350 pesos per person) and not crowded.

After a short ramble from the Barcelo resort we spent an amazing morning at Chikin Ha. We did the complete package with bikes, zip lining, and snorkeling. The site is beyond beautiful and the staff were lovely. Our guide was fabulous and helpful while the rescue dog Bella was cute as pie.

Tucked deep inside the jungle this experience was awesome.

The guided tour was great with tons of information. Great place to see all type of nature. The water in many of the denotes were crystal clear. Loved repelling down into the one a lot. New experience and great for friends and families.

Zip lining was fun and you felt very well taken care of.

Pleased with this place.

I think this was the selection of cenotes we came to. If I'm correct, it is a beautiful place for some swimming and it was very quiet, we basically had the place to ourselves. I would say you should go with a guide though because they will know where is safe and which cenotes are the most beautiful.

We purchased tickets through the Chikin Ha website online using their PayPal link and the park will not respect our payment and will not give us the access to the park we paid for. We've called and upon explaining the situation, giving our transaction ID number, etc... they hung up on us and now will not answer our calls. Extremely disappointing... beware!!

Extremadamente decepcionante ... ¡cuidado!

First off, this was my first visit to a Cenote. I had read my Trip Advisor reviews in advance and select two different cenotes to visit in the area. Although, this was also my first time driving in Mexico and I ended up here instead by mistake. After speaking with the very friendly employees (with great English), I decided to stay at Chikin Ha. They offered different levels of packages/tours. Not being a fan of the set pace of tours, I opted for simply admission to the three cenotes on site for around $20.

We arrived just before 9 am (on a Monday in early December) and were only the second tiny rental car parked in the small parking lot. I asked which cenote was best to see while we nearly had the place to ourselves. The guide asked us to shower and said that even the biodegradable sunblock I had was not allowed before he lead us to the cave cenote. He explained on the way, that sunblock would not be needed because the sun would not be directly overhead. This would be true for the vast majority of the day. I was happy to comply to keep this water clear for all to enjoy.

The cave cenote was awesome and was very much the highlight of the property! We were able to spent over an hour exploring on our own before anyone else began to show up. We snorkeled back and forth between what was like two caves. The view underwater was amazing. Some areas of the water where this light touched glowed the most radiant blues. Other areas were, what seemed to be, terrifyingly deep and dark. There was a rope strung through as a guide rail if you were not completely comfortable swimming (they did also offer life jackets as well). Though many of the stalactites overhead were broken, which you expect anytime tourist are not closely regulated, there were still many high enough over that they were intact. Tree roots also dangled from the roof of the cave, which was neat. It was amazing floating in this peaceful almost mystical place.

We made out way through the jungle trails to the cenote that was not for swimming. there was a small set of stairs leading partially underground. It seemed this was not for swimming because the water was very shallow in most areas. Although, at one point we saw scuba divers emerge from underwater towards a back wall. It was fun to explore this area on foot. There were bats darting around in the darker, fully underground area of the cave. Tours used this area to perform Mayan ceremonies by candlelight. Just before we left an employee lit all the candles, illuminating this area. We took our time but again left just before the first tour arrived.

The final cenote was the open air cenote. It was very different from the first two. You entered the water at one end of the pool. There was not much space to lounge around the perimeter of the water, if you were not swimming. The water was clean but with the open air above there were more leaves and plant debris floating around. The snorkeling was fun. The bottom was large rocks, some close enough to the surface to stand on if you did not want to continually tread water. There were some fresh water cichlids that were pretty and a couple small turtles you could watch swim. The plants around the perimeter growing under water made it feel very much like snorkeling in a fresh water aquarium. By now there were a few people leaving and just arriving at this cenote while we swam but I was surprised to have the first 2 or 3 hours in the first two cenotes to ourselves! There was also a zipline that flew above this cenote. It was very short compared to anything you would experience in other parks.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Chikin Ha! It was very nice to see a variety of cenotes in one park.

Three cenotes on the premise close to one another. You walk along a dirt path and there's stairs to get to the cenotes. You can swim in two. Water is clear and cold. The first one is the largest with beautiful open cave area and open lagoon with lots of small fishes and rock formations. There's a zip line that goes over it. Second cenote is more covered inside a cave with rock formations under water. Third cenote was for viewing only can't swim in it since it's more shallow. Saw some bats. We stayed at Barcelo hotel across the street. Got the golf cart to the entrance of the hotel and crossed the street to where all the cenotes are. Walk on the middle island divider in the street and make sure to cross when the cars are far away they come fast it is a highway. Chikin Ha is the first cenote. It's a long walk to get to the main entrance about 1 mile. Wear bug spray if you want to walk through the jungle on a dirt road with mostly shade. It's hot and there may be iguana or bird sightings. It's about $16 U.S. and you can pay by peso, dollars, or credit card (has a fee). There's an outdoor shower with soap gel that you can wash off your sunblock and bug spray. Cenotes are fresh water with fish so you need to wash off any spray you have on. There were picnic tables and changing rooms. They give you life jackets. Bring your own snorkel. Other cenotes along the street are close by. Some are bigger and cost more and some are smaller and cost less.

Good equipment and dive master---very fun dive, and a must do if you scuba. We were charged $220 per diver and it was well worth it.
