When we see the comments on Tripadvisor for this activity, my friends and I were quite doubtful about the popularity since this area locate far away from any cities. After we visited by ourselves, I have to say it is definitely worth it. The history...More

We weren't sure if we were THAT interested in learning about hen equip production, but we were so glad we went. It was so interesting learning how the industrialization of this production really led to the incredible wealth Merida experienced. The grounds were beautiful and...More

As a boy on the farm I loved the smell of the binder twine used to tie up bales. This visit shows where the hennequen (Agave fourcroydes) was and is processed into that twine and rope. The guide Juan gave us a history and perspective...More

We went based on the tripadvisor reviews and for the most part it lived up to the hype, however, the tour was a bit long for our 2 young kids (7 and 5). That's not the hacienda's fault, I just want to let others know....More

Very interesting place to visit. While there are quite a few haciendas that are back in business as high end hotels, these guys claim to be one of the only (if not THE only) one that still has the ability to process the henequen. We...More

First of all the Hacienda is beautiful, we took lunch there in the buffet and the food is fantastic, the best poc-chuc, fresh great tortillas. The hacienda is around 45 minutes away from merida, but is in the way to many other attractions surrounding Merida.

This is a short drive from Merida and I think there are also many tours there if you don't have a car. The place brings to life the henequen era (1850-1950). How people lived and worked, the machines and techniques and how things changed over...More

A bit far from Merida. Enjoyable visit to an old hacienda. Reservations are a good idea. Food was fine. The stories shared by an old Mayan gentleman don Antonio a moving part of the tour.

If you don't want to do the morning tour nor rent a car, I would take beachbums advise and hire a car and driver. There are online car hire sites for Merida and where you are staying should be able to help. The hotel may... More
