Good taco’s and nice gift shop
Nov. 2020
We have been here a few times with boat captains for lunch. The food is good. The cocktails are reasonably prices (if a bit slow). They have large outdoor grills for the famous Tikin Xic fish. The gem here is one of the souvenir shop owners. Elizabeth was sweet and awesome. We bought several little gifts, a new beach bag and a skull candle holder for the best prices on the island. (Not fans of the two nurse sharks the owner keeps in captivity on the docks). We will return again. Good fish tacos and ceviche.

Sharks held in captivity
Feb. 2020 • Friends
The beach holds two nurse sharks captive in a small square enclosure so that tourists can pay money and take pictures. Don’t support animal cruelty by coming here.

Be AWARE - Items stolen here
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Be AWARE AT ALL TIMES. Here for a lunch stop after a snorkel tour. I had my phone STOLEN out of my bag by some locales just as we were gathering to go eat lunch. There is a lot of activity to get distracted by-the sad shark, the yellow dog carrying a coconut that continuously drops it in the water and has to go fetch it, the guy selling conch shells. This is a perfect location to pick valuable off from tourists, it’s small and the area is condensed someone can just easily walk by and take it. They are now sending fake texts to try and gain access to my iphone since there is a long passcode. NOT TODAY!

The food was good, the area was small, the shark was sad. I’m personally shocked someone hasn’t come in in the middle of the night and rescued the poor thing.

So sad - don't fund animal abuse
Dec. 2019 • Family
We walked up to this area whilst we were exploring the island. I was horrified to see two nurse sharks held captive in a tiny pen. These are obviously here for people go grope and hold, which is just absolute animal abuse. Please do not fund this terrible place!

Visit everytime on Isla Mujeres

Always have lunch here when visiting. They have done alot of upgrades in the last 2 years. Cold beer and good food. Rent a golf cart and give it a try.

Something horrible ((((!
Sep. 2019 • Family
Well the beach itself and that restaurant are ok, BUT that shark... I would say this is what is called animal abuse! There is ONE little shark in a tiny pool and a long line of people paying for a photo. So this shark is being touched every other minute by strangers. SO SAD! SO AWFUL((((.

Another post for animal cruelty.
Sep. 2019
1.5m long shark in a 5m box, can't even swim in a straight line. Handler swims down and carries it to the surface for people to grope.

DON’T VISIT
Aug. 2019 • Family
Horrible and disgusting tourist attraction. Invites people to a picture with a nurse shark, which is trapped in a small area and held outside of the water in the beating down sun for visitors to hold it. It is very sad that Isla Mujeres allows this animal cruelty.

Boycott this place for cruelty to animals
Aug. 2019
Boycott this place. They have captured a poor small shark and keep it penned up in a small space of about 15 feet X 15 feet (about 5 meters X 5 meters), he hides in a corner until someone comes along who wants to pet it, then the prison guard goes and drags the poor fish over and forces it to interact with people. It was so sad it made my daughter cry. They kidnapped this fish and hold him in prison to attract customers: Please boycott this place, or if you go, tell them you will buy only after they release the shark. These people are horrible, oh, and the food was not even that good and the service worse.

Poor shark, sea grass in water, but the fish was good
Jun. 2019
I can't give it an average as I was really uncomfortable. The "swim" with shark is as depressing as everyone says it is. We stopped by there during a snorkeling trip for lunch. The fish was good, there was plenty to eat, but there is really no where to rest unless you are buying food. There are about 6 lounge chairs but they are in full sun. The beach is like most of the beaches on the south end...some areas of sea grass. The bathrooms have no toilet seat and you have to pay for toilet paper. I think this is the stop for most snorkeling trips...again the food was good and the service was fine - just everything else left something to be desired. You can walk to the turtle sanctuary from there to kill time while waiting on your food.
