Richart Sowa built Joysxee, the Floating Bottle Island by himself, with over 150,000 plastic bottles. Shown on MTV Extreme Cribs and Ripley's Believe It or Not, the island that floats on bottles is an ecological masterpiece. Everything on the island was built with recycled materials from the three story house, to the out door bar. Come tour Joysxee and meet the incredible Richie, a real life Robinson Crusoe. An experience you can only find on Isla Mujeres.

We saw it in April of 2016 before it was moved. The island was moved and then began to come completely apart and has now polluted the inner water where it was relocated with all of the plastic waste. The owner was supposed to dispose...More

Got destroyed in a storm and is no longer there. Apparently it was destroyed before by a storm and was rebuilt in the past , but this past storm was too much. Has not been re-built. GONE

I read that it could possibly be located somewhere else, but as other reviewer said it was destroyed in last hurricane and all the plastic dispersed.

Cool place to stop and visit. It is amazing to see how this man made this island. Floating on all plastic.

We tried to find this place for two days. The locals kept telling us that he has been moving around lately. We found him just before going on the ferry back to Cancun , so we never got to tour him.

We did find it but it wasn't easy, finally asked two different taxi drivers. There is no sign, we saw it by walking out on the dock next door. It looks run down like no one lives there anymore. Wouldn't bother taking the time to...More
