We spent a couple hours here eating lunch and enjoying the views. My husband and I split the fish taco platter and an order of guacamole and chips along with 3 beers and 2 sodas and 1 mojito. Total bill was $47 plus tip. The food was just average but the views were fantastic. They do have a pool but only a few people were in it as it was a little cool. We were able to negotiate a taxi roundtrip from town for 700 pesos plus tip.

We stopped here to relax on the beach and play in the waves . Found some nice sea glass along the shore . Had great piña coladas and our server Roland was amazing !
A storm blew in and chased us away but it was still a great time plenty of shade spots to lounge in . Beach was kept super clean as well .

This is a great little beach club almost at the tip of Cozumel. The food is great and the service friendly. It's not super cheap but not outrageous either considering the atmosphere and the use of the hammocks and lounge chairs.
Be sure you come here to spend the afternoon.

What a great place to stop and eat with scenery that cant be beat. Food was awesome, server (Wish I could remember His name to give Him a shout out) was super attentive and was like being with Family. Much appreciated to the owners, who obviously run a top notch business!!
Hammocks, Palapas, Shade or Sun, They have it all here.
Eat, swim and be as Lazy as you want, because you'll be wanting more and more!
Will definitely return....

My favourite place on the Island. Beautiful improvements to the property and service by Wille exceptional as always.
Not happy about the new “dogs allowed “ change. The east side is the place to turn off the noise of traffic and barking dogs. I hope this is temporary.

We were traveling along the "wild side" and one of the workers was out in the road flagging people down to come to the beach. We figured why not?
There was no cover charge, they just wanted you to purchase something while there.
This place is beautiful! It's very very big with lots of soft sand but of course since it's on the wild side, it's not really a "swimming" beach. There was a place to go in the water with a little cove but the day we were there the water seemed a little high and dangerous.
The area is super nice and plenty of places to spread out and hang out in the sun or under the palapa's. There's a big restaurant area there and swings at the bar. We only stopped to get a few drinks and just to hang out and take some pictures. Had I known about this place before, I would have loved to spend the entire day there.
You have to remember though, there's no electricity on this side so either things are brought in, cooked on grills and such. The bathrooms are clean too!
It's really sad to see the pool area in such dismay after the hurricane and the building/palapa there with no roof and falling apart. Maybe some day when the economy gets better and the COVID days have passed us, they will be able to rebuild again.
I would definitely return to this place and hang out for a day next time we are in Cozumel

Punta Morena is one of the best casual restaurants in Cozumel. How do I know? Well....I used to work for Carnival Cruise Lines and visit Cozumel almost every week. The quality of a seafood served in Punta Morena would surprise even the most sophisticated guests. It is always fresh and costs almost nothing. Frankly.....where else would you be able to you enjoy a huge Seafood Platter for less than $10.00 a person? Besides....the restaurant is located right on the Caribbean Sea shore. Just think about it....lobster tail + fresh pinacolada on the rocks + the best grilled squid ever had in my entire life. And all those wonders are being served right on the white, peaceful beach with an easy access to a gorgeous, turquoise ocean. Sometimes dreams come true........

Pros:
1. Beach is very nice and secluded
2. Beach chairs and hammocks available
Cons:
1. They DEMAND that you purchase beverages/food at least $15.00 per person (including children) in order to use their facilities
2. Outages prices for beer at 75 pesos - which is about 4 dollars. Average price in other beaches is 2 dollars. The food prices were equally outrageous as most dishes are about 20 dollars and up. Again... Way above average for other beaches in Cozumel
3. Poor service
4. Although the beach is very nice and secluded, it just had a depressed feel to it as there were not many beach goers. Probably sure to their pricing practices
Do not recommend and will obviously not be returning. Waste of my time.

We visited Cozumel by cruise ship in Dec 2017, hired a taxi for the day, and Punta Morena was our first stop. We were greeted by smiling faces and we immediately ordered a drink! I've read in other reviews that people were immediately confronted about a minimum tab-- we did not have that experience, but like I said we ordered a drink right away, so they knew we were going to spend money!
I didn't think the prices were outrageous by any means. I've spent a helluva lot more than $4 to have a beer beach/oceanside. The staff has to work for a living, AND it's an island. If price is a concern, swing into town to buy some drinks and find your own beach. On our half hour trek from Puerta Maya (cruise terminal) to Punta Morena, our cabbie took us to a general store where we purchased 6 Coronas (Road sodas! Why not? We're not driving!) and a gallon of water for $8. Cha Ching!
Back to Punta Morena. Great drinks, yummy food, beautiful sea views, comfy hammocks, and a reef-free stretch of beach where the water is just rough enough to body surf/boogie board! (Hold on to your ta tas!)
Y'all, your trip is what you make it. Travel with an open heart, open mind, and happy spirit, and people will reciprocate. Nit pick, and people will reciprocate.
Fortunately, my little bro is marrying his sweet fiancé next week in COZUMEL, and we'll get to again visit our amigos at Punta Morena!
Oh- and the cash thing- CASH IS KING! There is barely electricity on the east side of the island, let alone card readers and internet service. So....just take cash.

Our cruise ship had stopped at Cozumel. My wife and I decided to take a private shore excursion. As a part of our tour we specifically asked to have lunch at a good restaurant but also one that didn't cater just to tourists. We wanted some local flavor. We ended up at the Punta Morena Beach Club Restaurant. Great choice.
Before we got to the meal, we had already gotten our money's worth. The beach is out of this world beautiful. I had a field day with my camera. The pools are surrounded with colorful hammocks and grass huts. There is a large and scenic cross on the beach. Everything is so very special. Then there was the parrot as well as the large Iguana that was paraded from table to table. And to top everything else off, we were serenaded by a mariachi band.
Then came the food. Excellent. Typical menu for a Mexican place. I like burritos. They served a great burrito. Fresh as well as warm chips.
We discovered after we left that we did get hit with a double tip. Let me encourage you to check your bill before and after you pay. That is the only negative concerning the experience. I figured they needed the money more than I did. I have a clean conscience -- they don't.
Anyway, I still recommend the place highly.

Does Punta Modena still have the swimming pools?
Written 17 September 2023
No. The last Hurricane destroyed the Older Naked Iguana resort.
However, they have moved a little further south and it's back, but without the swimming pool.

Written 2 April 2019

We are playing to get on this beach, what information or should I need to speak to a manager to do this. Its a private wedding no planners just us and family. We plan to party after at the bar area but I need to know how does this work? Should I call or should I just show up and walk on to the beach and just get married.
Written 10 July 2017
Well I honestly don't know. I would try to contact them before hand. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and just showing up may work if you are not requiring their services for anything but good and drink services.
Written 11 July 2017
How does this work do I need reservations what is the cost? or is it just a free beach with a pool?
Written 26 June 2017
You do not need reservations, but it is not a free beach. I would recommend reservations and get a package deal that includes transportation as well as the beach amenities. You can go through a company like Shore Trips for the package. It was cheaper than the excursion thru our cruise line and pretty close to the cost of just the beach access, but included everything. Especially nice when going from a cruise stop.

Wondering how much the price of drinks were here if you remember? Or all bars. Myself and a couple others are going on the COZUMEL BAR HOP next week and we want to know roughly how much extra USD we should carry! Thanks!
Written 19 January 2017
You will love it!!! Drinks not cheap, but worth the atmosphere. Beer 3.50 and big fruity drinks 9$. But we used a credit card so got better deal because of exchange rate and card international fee. Have fun!

Hi my family and I will be in Cozumel on Friday, February 19, 2016. I was wondering if you offered day passes for that day and if so how much. We are 4 adults and two children ages 6 and 13. Thank you. Also how far are you from the cruise terminal?
