Our family took a private boat tour for snorkeling and loved, loved Columbia Shallows!! Wow!! It's an amazing, beautiful, huge reef that is as good as any reef in the Caribbean! It looks like a garden of color and texture, with some coral standing just a few feet below the surface. My 77 year old father even snorkeled the open waters and did very well! You will see schools of bright colored fish, manta rays, huge parrot fish, barracuda and dozens of other fish! The water in late December was warm and around 83 degrees! Even if your guide says the water may be a bit rough that day, don't pass up the opportunity to try it anyway! It's well worth every minute! Consider a private boat tour (We took Deluxe Rent a Boat and loved them!) so that you can spend as much time here as you'd like! You could stay for hours, finding new things with every turn. Make this a priority stop when out on the water!

Perfect site for a second dive after diving Columbia Deep or Pinnacles. Lots of bottom time to be had at this 30' deep dive site. Spotted eagle rays, turtles, channel crabs, blennies and more. Great place if you want to snorkel with kids.

We dove Columbia Shallows twice in the three days we were in Cozumel. Great dive. Very good for novice divers. Great visibility. Saw many variety of fish including a Scorpion Fish. A sea turtle hung out with us for a while. Really enjoyed it!

this is one of the nicest dives you will be on,its beautiful, and like a safety stop, its 25/30ft,the whole dive, what most people like to do for example is dive the deep dive at palancar for example, and then get on he boat and go right back in to Columbia shallows, they are close to each other, and you don't need a safety stop, you will be on one in the Columbia shallows, I saw for the first time two eaglerays at Columbia shallows, take jose chale or jose santos as your divemaster,saw a sleeping shark.grouper,lots of different species fish,you have to use dive paradise on this dive...they let you stay down over an hour if you want...lots of snorkerlers there because of the beautiful current and its close to the top, you can see over 100 yards.....you wont be sorry.

this is a perfect dive if you just gone on a deep dive, get into the boat put another tank on and get right in to Columbia shallows, the maximum depth is 25 ft, yu cannot go any deeper, and abut 20ft is all the beautiful coral, its like a one hour safety stop.You can stay close to the coral,or zigzag back and forth,there is small piece of coral 20 yeard long you can swim to, or stay on the long I would say 500 yards of coral or more, take your time remember if you have the right divemaster yu can stay down an hour to an hour and 15 minuites, it depends on your air and if your divemaster gets cold ha ha.sometimes you will see snorkelers above with a few boats because the coral is so big some of it is touching distance, but remember no touching...last year I get a great video of a eagleray, this year I got some drum fish,toad fish,and lots of different fish yo don't usually see, including big groupers...there are morays,slipper lobster,its hard to describe, now one downfall, and ask your divemaster, this is the winter and a few times it might be cloudy water and cannot see 100 yards ,like I have been doing,i have been lucky,sometimes its just 10 yards visibility and its not as nice when it is that way, otherwise you wont be disappointed, I always go with dive paradise, I was on the paradise diver boat, it was fun for an old man.

This was one of our stops on a snorkel tour. Lots of fish to see and they are friendly. Interesting coral formations. Saw some rays here.
