Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The taste was excellent!!! We bought a 12 year old tequila for $160: at home we opened the bottle and I tasted exactly like the $21 that we buy at traders joe. Terrible scam.! Don’t buy just taste it ... multiple times. The one that you taste comes from different containers... that should have given the scam away!!

This is a scam! Stay away! The "extra aged" tequila you taste in the tasting room is NOT what they wrap up and send home with you! I purchased a bottle of the "extra aged" tequila $127 USD and after we returned to our hotel my daughter Googled the tour to get a picture of the bottle so I could share it on Facebook and she saw review after review about this scam. I went to my room, opened the bottle of "extra aged" and it was HORRIBLE, definitely not the tequila I had tasted in the tasting room.

I stated making phone calls and two days later my money was refunded. They told me "apparently your taste buds changed". Seriously?

I stated repeatedly that I wanted a bottle of the tequila I'd tasted in the tasting room vs a refund but they were either unwilling or unable to produce the product.

The authorities in Cozumel have to know about this. Trip Advisor has to know about this and yet nothing is being done to stop this ring of con artists.

I can't understand how they are still able to accept credit cards.

Bottom line, it's a scam.

Stay away.

Just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise with one of our stops being Cozumel. I did the Best of Cozumel tour with Market Exploration. One of the stops was tequila tasting of Regalo De Dios tequila through Mi Mexico Lindo. Each tequila tasted better than the last with the 12 year old extra anejo tasting amazing. So smooth. I also liked their Crema de Cafe. I bought a bottle of each. I Spent almost $200. Out of curiosity I looked it up today to see if I could find more info on the brand only to see all the negative reviews on. Trip Advisor. I didn’t see that coming! I got my bottles out and like someone else pointed out, the Crema says it contains “alcohol”, but not tequila. The bottle of extra anejo tequila I got tastes nothing like what I tasted in Cozumel. Totally burned going down, no smoothness. What a total rip off!! The short time we were there the tourists were being cycled through like cows. They couldn’t ring us up fast enough! To add insult to injury there is a guy with a cart right outside the door selling margaritas made with fresh squeezed fruit, acted like he was giving you a long pour. My friends and I thought they were the best ever but as we went on, all agreed you couldn’t taste any tequila. I looked at the cigar cart. Reading here that was a scam too. I called my credit card company and am disputing the charge. All I can do is wait. All their talk about how only Americans drink bad tequila with lime and salt to hide the alcohol taste but that’s exactly what you need to drink the swill they send you home without!

The tasting was good. The primo bottle of tequila was irresistible and we purchased a bottle for $129. Got it home and presto - rot gut tequila. Burns like any old tequila. NOT the same tequila we sampled. “Leo” was the main salesman and claimed to be from a family tequila farm in Jalisco. This was a very good scam AND was part of an Amstar excursion. Don’t fall for it like we did.

These people are skilled hustlers. I wish I would have looked up reviews before I went. We came, did the tour, sampled tequilas. I like many others liked the extra añjeo enough to get a bottle, something like $150, ridiculous, and impulsively I bought it. Today, I go to post my bottle that I was still proud of, google to find the name of it, only to learn I fell for the bait and switch. This $13 dollar gold sauza blows my expensive bottle out of the water. It burns going down and is nowhere near the profile it was there.

To the company, you were talking some real crap about paul mitchell and patron, but he at least delivers on tequila. I think I'm gonna pour your cheap rubbing alcohol garbage down the sink now, seeing as I don't know what I'm drinking.

Well let me start by saying that every tourguide in Mi Mexico Lindo is part of the "Familia". They then explain the product origins, aging process and distillation.

I bought this product thinking it was the smoothest tasting tequilas I ever tasted. I haven't tasted many but the one I took home is not even tequila. It is closer to rubbing alcohol.

I have placed a dispute with my CC company.

Advice - I bought better alcohol at the Meca Supermarket. NO Scams and no haggling.

They will purposefully try hard to rip you off here. They let you pay the maximum you are willing to pay and will use every trick in the book to rip you off. They will sell you tequila that is not what you tasted for the highest price they can charge you.

Get ready for a high pressure environment where you will know you are being ripped off.

THEY GOT US TOO! We go to Cozumel every February and stay a week or so... 2020 we did a 4 wheel excursion that ended with Tequila tasting at this place. We did taste all of the varieties they had and really liked the 350 $ bottle. My husband loves smooth tequila and this was pretty smooth. Even I could drink it by itself.....it was smooth! When we got home and opened the bottle it was hard to drink, had more of a kerosene taste, I couldn't drink it at all... we ended up just using it as a mixing tequila. I have no doubt they make good stuff, they just don't give you the good stuff if your taking it back with you, so tell them your going to drink it there!

Just like other people on this page, we got ripped off. Didn't know we were going to stop at this place on a private tour. The tasting tequila was superb. Bought several bottles to bring home ($$$) - does not taste like what we had at the tasting place. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! DON'T GO THERE!!!

Wasn’t sure why the driver insisted on this part of a tour when we had children. We had a great experience at the old resort/tequilera. However the tequila I was sold by Karen was not what I tasted. She told us her family makes true blue agave tequila and that may be true. But they do not sell blue agave tequila. I purchased the extra anejo and it was one of the best tequilas I’ve ever tasted. When I got home I opened the bottle. It tasted like jose Cuervo mixed with rubbing alcohol. I’m very disappointed with the bait and switch. Stay away from here. I’ll be disputing with my credit card company.
