Absolutely beautiful reef. Huge coral. A must if you dive. We did dives multiple times in the Palancar area. Some called Palancar Garden and some Palancar caves. Both of them are great, with very nice coral and sea life.

Just do it. From snorkeling to diving this is almost as beautiful as the Great Barrier Reef. We got to dive here 4 times and there is still so much more to explore.

Dove Palancar during a recent week-long dive vacation in Cozumel. You'll see some of the most amazing coral formations and sea life. Truly spectacular diving.

Many different parts to the reef system here, caves cut throughs. Sometimes a bit overcrowded but still manage to see something on every dive. Beautiful coral pinnacles huge vase sponges occasionally see a nurse shark some sting rays in the more shallow areas

All the Palancar reefs are great. Swim throughs, animals, eels, sharks, etc. Best to dive with Aldora Divers if you are an experienced diver. You should get at a minimum 60 minutes underwater.

Palancar Horsehsoe features towering formations laden with coral. Swimming between them is fun. Saw a huge lobster but not tons of other sea life. This is worth doing for the beautiful architecture down below. Water temperature was a balmy 85 degrees in early June and...More

Despite its popularity this reef is still beautiful with lots of wildlife- some of the largest crabs and lobsters I've ever seen! Be aware that this is drift diving - the currents are swift and the seas can get choppy - and there are a...More

Can you snorkel yourself from the shore? Is there much to see closer to the shore?

Hi, I am not so sure that would be wise. Even if you were able to get to the reef, there is a ton of boat traffic and most of the really cool sites are a min of 30' down. Also, there is a fairly strong current when divers... More
Is it Palancar where you can enter the water off the beach and dive or snorkel and see a statue of the Virgin Mary just below the surface?

If you want to dive on Palancar reef you need to go on a diving boat, l paid $35 & was out there 2 & 1/2hrs. There are strong currents out there, but as it's only 1/4ml from land, a really strong & healthy person could do... More
