Bienvenido! to Josefina's Cocina con Alama. "Alma" the word for soul in Spanish is how authentic Mexican cooking begins. We invite you to explore and taste the many wonders of Mexcian cuisine through hands-on instruction with the wonderful cook & chef, Josefina. Join Josefina in her Cozumel home and kitchen for a day to learn how to make regional Yucatecan delights as well as other Mexican dishes. The class is designed for those that want a "taste" of Mexican culture (you will even get to visit the local market). It is set up for all ages to enjoy, yet comprehensive enough for those avid cooks looking to hone and learn new skills. Be prepared to eat as you will cook a feast suited for the Mayan gods!

We so enjoyed this excursion. In fact, we swam with a shark, saw sea turtles, went on a sail boat, snorkeled and much more and one of the top high lights was this cooking trip near the center of Cozumel. We went to the local...More

Josefina's cooking experience was the absolute highlight of our trip. We got total first class treatment and an authentic experience with the culture. The shopping for the ingredients, learning to cook the food and the tasting was the best. Josefina treated us like VIPs and...More

Josefina was wonderful - the food was delicious, and she is personable and very friendly. She even gave my daughter a Mayan dress which her granddaughter had outgrown. She prepared 8 dishes, and we left so full! This is a great way to experience some...More

We had a great time with Luis. He showed us the backyard and then took us to the market to buy some produce. We then went back to the class where we learned how to clean a cactus. Otherwise, what was a bit disappointing was...More

My 13-year-old daughter and I took this class as a personally-booked off-shore excursion from our cruise when Josefina was leading the class and tour. The home was thankfully away from the tourist area, and easy to find. After arriving we went on a walking tour...More

Hi - my apologies for missing this question - it depends on where you ship is docked. If downtown Cozumel the site is walkable and if outside it requires a 10 min taxi ride. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy... More
