This was a real market with fresh fruit, veggies, meat, seafood, chiles, spices, inexpensive restaurants, snacks, party favors, religious items, household items, souvenirs and more! There was so much to see. There were mostly Mexican families at the market but everyone was very, very friendly....More
We easily arrived at the Mercado 23 by using Google Maps on our phone. Take a taxi directly to Mercado 23 -- the driver may think you mean Mercado 28 which is expressly for turistas. Make sure you make it clear that you want to...More
Stunning, easy accessible market. Lots of souvenirs to choose from at cheap prices. Negotiate your price and take home authentic Mexican crafts. Small food stalls available Definitely worth a visit!! Taxi ride from hotel zone- 200 pesos. Safe and friendly outing 😁

We visited Mercado 23 after visiting Mercado 28, which is pretty much better. Mercado 23 is more a vegetable and flea market, with some stores of souvenirs and grease- spoon restaurants (Mexican, seafood and Chinese). If you miss it, you are not missing much.
