Close to the beach, this "museum" is a must, if you´re staying only in cancun for your holidays. there are some small pyramids but you can´t compare it to big sites, like chichen itza.

The museum was only about a mile from Sandos where we were staying, so I walked to it one day and was pleasantly surprised. The exhibits are professionally done and very interesting. The surprise of the visit, however, was the archeological dig in the jungle...More

This museum has wonderful displays of many artifacts as well as Mayan ruins. It could be improved by adding another language in addition to Spanish on the cases. The ruins were wonderful and it was a nice stroll to get to their location.

You cant go wrong for $6.00. Very nice museum with many Mayan artifacts, ruins, etc. A good place to spend an afternoon. Many of the signage is in English but also many descriptions written only in Spanish.

Went there on a Monday and it wasn't open. A couple of men came up to us to tell us and also stated that the last 3 times they've been there it hasn't been open?? Just a heads up if you're wanting to go there.

Sorry, we do not know if there are guides or not. We do recall that English language signage has improved since the first year.

Bus drivers will nod "Yes" even if they don't speak English. It is part of being nice in Quintana Roo. Ask to get off at the Captains Cove, or Museo Maya de Cancun.
