Very dissaponting and ethically questionable experience
Nov. 2021
This was perhaps the most sad and dissapointing underwater experience I ever had. First of all, it is a very limited exhibition with few fish and other sea creatures (with regards to what you would see just going snorkling on the beach 10 minutes away).

The size of the aquariums/fish tanks seemd to be way too small as they were very overcrowded. Very little time and effort have been put on creating satisfying underwater environemnts for the animals to play and hide in. In particular, the two crocodiles/kayman had nothing to hide behind, even though it was stated in the information material that they did not enjoy being on public display. The posters informing about environmental and ecological issues and how they affect the marine life, seemed not so much an effort to educate the visitors but to green wash the obvious failure of the aquarium to provide sufficient habitats for their own animals.

The main attraction was the Dolphinarium, which cost extra if one wanted to actually be down with the dolphins. A Dolphinarium is by itself ethically questionable to say the least. The number of people waiting and swimming with the dolphins together with the small size of the pool, created an obviously stressfull environment for both humans and dolphins with lots of shouting and movement. I guess some people find enjoyment in this kind of entertainment, I did not and skipped past as fast as I could.

At the end of the very stragith path through the Aquarium there is a tall tank where you can pay extra to be submerged with a rebreather to "walk with the fish". If you see nothing wrong with touching and feeding fish in captivity while in a fish tank where every other person wisiting the aquarium are passing by and staring at you, I guess its up to you if you want to pay that extra fee. If you instead want to see the fish in the tank and many more in their natural habitat, the extra fee can instead buy you a test dive with a scuba dive instructor to go down and swim in the coral reef just outside the beach in Cancun.

Dear traveler: Thank you for sharing your experience about our Aquarium. We understand that each person can have a different idea, concept or expectation about a place that will visit during your vacations and we respect that. Our only comment would be on their concern about the size of the habitats for the dolphins. In this regard, it is important for you to know that there is an official Mexican standard - which even exceeds international standards - and that regulates all dolphin care, from water quality, food, veterinary care and, of course, spaces available for animals. This standard was made by animal welfare experts from academic institutions such as WWF and IFAW Latin America. Naturally our Aquarium must comply with the Standard in order to function. The welfare of animals under our care is the basis of all our operations, is the science on which we give the best quality of life of our animals, that is the way we ensure that dolphins and other animals are treated in the correct way. Best regards

A nice idea for a family afternoon
Oct. 2021 • Family
A nice idea for young and old for a quick afternoon activity. There are not too many fish to see, but you can touch some of them and see crocodiles and turtles up close. The price if justified but I was a little disappointed that we couldnt see the sea lions very well as they were kept far away and almost out of sight. The dolphin were fun to watch from the upstairs.all in all would recommend but wouldn't say it's a full day activity.

Dear traveler: Thank you so much for writing your comments about your visit. The walkway can be either 30, 35 minutes or less, depending on how you take it. we apologize that you had this impression. We have ramps in the Aquarium to make the access to areas easier to see our sea lions, the closest view is from the bridge, the sea lions habitat is located under the bridge. Thank you for visiting The Interactive Aquarium. Regards.

The dolphins are sweet, amazing beings!
Jul. 2021
What I really like about this company is they are actively doing extensive (and humane) research with Dolphins and other marine life in the area to ensure their safety, health, and conservation. Before learning about this company, I was sad dolphins were even in captivity. However, upon researching the company, I found out that these dolphins are understood on a deep level, love to interact with humans (they think we are as fascinating as we think they are!), have special relationships with their caretakers, and have loads of fun things to do that keep them thoroughly entertained. They are very social and love to play with each other and humans!

This is one of the coolest experiences (almost spiritual) I have ever had! We booked the dolphin swim and seatrek experience. We swam with Lucca, a very handsome and playful male. Oh my gosh, was he so sweet and playful! I swear he smiled at me! It was obvious with Lucca's interaction with his trainer, that he is well respected and loved. The trainers and staff are very friendly and explanatory. It was such a fun and educational experience!

The seatrek experience was neat in theory, and I suppose I am glad I did it but it was not as I expected. I thought we would be going down into a natural habitat to look at coral and various sea life, but instead it was a pretty small aquarium tank with lots of fake coral and other aquarium décor with a few fish and starfish.

Other notes about the day: They should have spent more time making sure we had well-fitting life jackets to swim with the dolphins; my aunt's was so loose and up around her head (like the edge was at the top of her head!) and she had a difficult time seeing the whole time and my father's was uncomfortably tight fitting as if he needed a larger size (they put him in a medium). As a safety precaution we did have to remove all of our jewelry, including wedding rings, before getting in the pool to swim with Lucca. I only mention it so that anyone reading this knows to leave them in the safety of your hotel safe. The photographs of the experiences were really, really good quality. Having said that, wow are they expensive. Whew. Just so you guys are aware. I will also say that we didn't really appreciate how they approached us about purchasing the photos. We were shown all of the pictures after both experiences and given the cost of the dolphin swim first. When we asked how much more the additional seatrek pictures were going to be, they told us it depended on whether or not we bought the dolphin pictures. We bought them all, but they should just be upfront about it- the way they presented it made it feel kinda shady. But honestly, we bought them all and have no regrets.

I love the dedication to dolphins and ocean conservation this company has! We really had a unforgettable experience and I would 100% do it again.

Gentle reminder: Don't use single-use plastic, it's harming our world's sea life so badly. And don't forget to use reef-safe sunscreen in the ocean! :)

Small aquarium but nice activity for kids
Jul. 2021 • Family
Small aquarium but for the price it was perfect for the kids. It doesn’t take but an hour to get through the exhibits so plan on going closer to the dolphin show time. The shows are in the evening at 6:30 and 7:30 and sell out fast. Due to covid they didn’t seat as many people but we went at 5:00 to buy tickets for the 6:30 show and it was sold out. You can touch the sting rays. There is swimming with dolphins which looked like a great experience even though we didn’t do that option. You are able to watch others do it and the kids got extra time watching the dolphins. The show was great and a good length. Due to covid you were only allowed to pay for a picture with the seal and not able to touch it. Kids had a great time.

Great Experience Ridiculously Bogus Photo Prices
Jun. 2021 • Family
Great experience worth the price per person. My family of 4 did the premium package for 4 family members in a intimate group setting with a trainer. The trainer was very nice and patient with us as we all were non swimmers. Even adjusted the foot push activity to something else for my mother and daughter who were scared to do it. The picture prices were outrageous and cost just as much as the experience if not more. It’s a complete rip off and all experiences DO NOT charge 300 plus usd for photos. For example, we went horseback riding the next day and photos were 25 for $40 usd much more reasonable. I had to talk the guy down from 300 to 250 which is still ridiculous.

Excellent trip!
Jun. 2021 • Friends
Excellent experience!! The staff were very friendly and accommodating for our larger party (4 adults and 4 children). We were able to touch the stingrays, starfish and view the other fish inside the Aquarium before being shown to our seats. The water was very cold but welcoming once you were in the sun for a while. We had smaller children with us (5 and 6 year olds) but even they were able to do the full dolphin experience which allowed them to be pulled by the dolphins. The photo packages were extremely pricey but since we split the cost between two families it was reasonable. If we had done the experience with just our group we wouldn’t have paid for the pictures due to the price. The quality of the pictures was excellent though. Well worth it if you’re splitting it with another family.

Swam with the dolphins
Apr. 2021 • Couples
I went with my fiancée to swim with the dolphins. They had plenty of hand sanitizer and the staff was good about COVID precautions. The dolphins were well trained and had a good amount of fun tricks. One child in our group was afraid of them, and the staff was good about comforting the kid and adjusting some of the tricks to make it less scary. Doing the dorsal fin ride was worth the extra $20, and the Superman looked awesome too. The photos were expensive, so unfortunately we didn’t buy any. I would have bought one or two individuals, but they really wanted to sell the packages. If you do want to buy a photo package, don’t pay their listed prices. They’ll offer you better deals if you tell them it’s too much.

Great Break From The Sun & Heat - And Very Interesting Experience
Mar. 2021
The admission ticket allows you to see lots of things for really what is a reasonable price. Plus, on a hot Cancun day being inside much of the time here is a nice break from the sun and heat. The added cost to actually swim with the dolphin is ultimately worth it for one of the greatest memories you might have with your kids.

What a splash!
Feb. 2021
Swimming with dolphins has always been on my bucket list. We did the splash package - which allowed us to swim with a dolphin for 30 min. For me, that was plenty of time and we didn't need to be 'pushed' by the dolphins. My husband didn't really want to do this and just did it because I wanted it - and he said this was the highlight of our trip to Cancun!

Great Experience!
Feb. 2021
We purchased the Couples Dolphin Swim which included not only the 45 minute once of a lifetime encounter with dolphins, but also admission to the aquarium and the evening dolphin show. The trainers, ours was Michelle, were very patient when giving us directions in the pool and had complete control of the dolphins at all times. Felt very safe and secure. We bought the picture and video package which seemed a little pricey but well worth it given the experience. The aquarium is right in the hotel zone at La Isla Shopping village. Everything is very clean at this shopping village, with masks, temperature check and sanitizer required at entry to the aquarium, Easy to get to by public bus for only $1 US.
