Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

best way to go is to ride the piojo from Malecon, is unexpensive and punctual, Sundays there is no fee, you can hire guides, 1.5 hours enough to visit and take pictures, nice historic place

This place is great! Of course I like old forts. This one is way out on the water (not really that far in a taxi though). The old buildings are great to walk through. It actually was a prison for awhile. Would not want to have been there. They have a small museum where maybe the pieces (Olmec I think) are copies because they look sooo good. It probably gives a good idea of what the artifacts were like when they were made. Really a small but mighty museum. A must see place in Veracruz.

Worth a trip across the port to see this historical site. I was fortunate and got an English guide- but even if self guided, it's worth seeing!

You'll get some great pictures here. Use an on-site guide to get the most from your visit. This was the location for alot of the Cartagena scenes in the movie, Romancing the Stone. This is a must-see attraction when visiting Veracruz.

San Juan de Ullua has a long and fascinating history, explained clearly by our excellent guide Joel Castelan. A must see when in Veracruz.
