We started at a local market, the stalls have all the vegetables and fruit you’d expect and many more mysterious things we’ve never seen or tatsed before. Our teacher, Pilar likes to buy from the ladies who bring small amounts of things to sell rather...More

Chef Pilar's class was jam packed with hands-on experiences. After touring her reseaurant, we enjoyed a shopping trip to the market to get our ingredients, with a tutorial on Oaxacan spices and produce. We spent several hours in Pilar's home where she had everything prepped...More

We had a wonderful morning first going with Pilar to the market and then to her house to cook and then enjoy a delicious meal. I have always liked La Olla restaurant and so it was fun to take this class with Pilar.

Thoughtfully managed by Pilar and her staff, in her spacious home kitchen, this was an excellent introduction to Oaxacan cuisine. With every cooking class, you tour the market, but I felt that Pilar gave us more in-depth knowledge of the ingredients we were to be...More

Pilar offers a wonderful cooking class. We learned a good deal and ate very well -- a nice group with great camaraderie, no doubt the result of the warm atmosphere our chef/teacher provides. Highly recommended.

She has great English, as others have said. I've taken two classes, one included mole and the other did not. You should ask in advance about the menu when you inquire about the class.
