We did this trip in September 2017 and that day was amazing! We ordered horse ride at given address in Oaxaca. On next day the taxi driver took us on a ranch where we were heartily welcomed. We were absolute beginners. Everything was clearly explained...More

On the half and full day tours we rode through communal lands rich in several species of agaves used to make mezcal, so it just seems right to sample mezcal after the ride. Huge Espadin agaves can be seen on a portion of Rancho Pitaya;...More

Mary Jane (the owner) guided us in person for five hours alongside rivers and up into the cactus forest. I suspect we covered a good 20km plus. The horses were excellent and well suited to each rider's capabilities. MJ also ensured that we were provided...More

Thanks so much for your comments. I'll be sure to clarify the format of the full day ride better. I usually have sunscreen and bug repellent in my saddle bag. My apologies if I didn't that day. I like to have a big, proper Mexican-style...More

We were looking to get out of the city and into a natural environment for an afternoon. I'm also an animal lover and like to visit animal sanctuaries, ranches, and rescue missions while on vacation. We had passed a banner for Horseback Mexico near our...More

The scenery in the summer is indeed amazing: giant flowering agaves, the red fruits on the Nopal cacti and vistas that go one for miles. Thank you and come back again!

Even though I was the only person who signed up for the group ride, Mary Jane was kind enough to take me out alone. Horseback Mexico is anything BUT a boring slog on a tired trail horse who can't wait to get home. The ranch...More

Well, I look forward to you returning for a longer ride! It was a pleasure spending the day with you exploring on horseback. After 13 years of taking people riding, I can figure out pretty quickly good horse and rider matches. Thanks again for coming...More

I absolutely loved my two day rides with Mary Jane around the beautiful countryside near Rancho Pitaya - which is a gem in itself. As an experienced rider (15+ years), who has tried many “horse riding adventures” in different countries, I was apprehensive at first...More

Thank you for taking such great care of my younger horses Niza and Midnight. It's so important to me that my horses enjoy their work and a calm rider with soft hands and a good seat contributes greatly to this. It takes time to condition...More

My husband and I are inexperienced riders but decided to give it a try because of the excellent ratings Horseback Mexico has received. What a fantastic experience. Mary Jane is a wonderful teacher who paired us with appropriate horses and we felt completely safe. Great...More

Ain't that the truth! But you know it's the one time that you don't offer a horse water that you'll have a thirsty horse working a long ride. Looking forward to riding with you on your next visit to Oaxaca.

Our family of four with two young children really enjoyed the horseback riding. It was basically our first time but the staff were patient and excellent teachers. I would highly recommend!

Exploring the world on horseback is a lovely family activity. I started taking riding classes with my son when he was seven, and this is a pastime we still enjoy together almost twenty years later. Thank you for coming out riding.

On this ride I experienced something that really enhanced my experience of the area, and it was of course ivery different than the touristic attractions in the city, wonderful though the city itself is. I also fell completely in love with my horse.More
