En Via is a non-profit microfinance organization working to fight poverty around Oaxaca, and to educate travelers about the power of microfinance by connecting them with local women either through visits to their towns, or through our volunteer program teaching free English classes to women and children. On the visits, travelers meet women who are applying for micro-loans to start or expand their small businesses, from making tortillas to weaving beautiful rugs, to selling flowers in the local market. Participants hear about the women's lives and projects, and what they plan to do with their loans. At the end of the day, 100% of the fee is then used to give interest-free micro-loans to the women we visited.

This tour was definitely one of the highlights during our trip to Oaxaca. The two volunteers were capable, knowledgeable and friendly. Joan provided a clear account of the history and goals of the Foundation and Sarah was our very respectful translator during the visits to six of the "borrowers" and their families. The van driver, Norman, a safe, experienced and... More

This guided trip took a van full of visitors to Oaxaca to a very poor village with dirt roads. It is here that women are given small loans to start businesses. The women propose their business ideas to receive loans. We visited and had lunch at a local restaurant started in the program as well as an En Via loan... More

My tour with EnVia was the highlight of my trip to Oaxaca! It was the perfect antidote to all the craziness in the world I had been feeling since the 45th election/administration. The respectful concern for the well being of others was evident. I was impressed by the humor and cultural sensitivity of the guides, the mission of the program... More

I highly recommend this tour. The tour guides were exceptional, the loan recipients gave wonderful presentations, and it all goes to a great cause. It was an easy way to view "real life" in the towns and homes of real people.

We spent over six hours going to various woman-owned businesses in villages outside Oaxaca. The women have all received micro-loans from En Via, which have allowed them to lift their families out of poverty!!! Very moving experience! 850 peso tour fee $40.50 usd) includes transport in comfy van, lunch, expert translators..........most of the fee becomes funds for new no interest... More

We took an afternoon tour with En Via which started at 1:00 pm and got us back to Oaxaca City just before 7:00. This is conscious tourism at its very best. For a mere 200 pesos per person, we got to travel by Van to outlying villages to see the profound effect that micro finance loans can have on women's... More

A full day tour of several villages close to the city of Oaxaca is a great way to get a feel of life in Oaxaca. Fundacion En Via not only provides a great tour, but with your purchase of a ticket, is giving families employment and security through their micro-finance organization. For each full-day tour, there are always two engligh-speaking... More

We really enjoyed our half-day micro-finance tour of three female owned businesses that received no interest loans. We had a delicous commida (mid-day dinner), visited a small mercado (convenience store), and a weaving shop. We had excellent explanations of the foundation by our guides and the loan recipients, what they do and why. Almost all of the cost of the... More

This is no ordinary tour we 4 took yesterday, but an opportunity to experience the Oaxaca area at a level that is truly special. Our guides Nadia and Natalie were delightfully informative and interacted with us 11 tourists and the grantees we visited in an entirely natural and helpful way, as did first-time guide Mariana. The lunch was delicious and... More

Yes, no doubt Oaxaca have some really nice and well known places to visit such as Monte Alban and Hierve el Agua (and do go to see this places!) but with no doubt my highlight experience in the town was the "tour" from En Via. I usually don't like tour but trust me when I say this just don't feel... More
