Because this church is at the westernmost end of the old city, many tourists don’t go and it’s a great way to experience local life with far less of the tawdriness of the zocalo. In front of the entry to the church, there’s a lovely...More

This is an impressive church, one framed with perhaps the biggest courtyard of any in the old town area. It isn't at all far from either the Zocolo or St. Domingo, just on an East-West axis when most city visitors seem to be oriented North-South....More

This is a Nice Church but it is a little but far from the rest of the tourist places, so if you have time visit, if not you won't miss much.

Beautiful cathedral built to pay homage to the Virgen de la Soledad. Recommend taking guided tour to learn the story of how it came to be built.

Oaxaca is a treasure trove of sites and opportunities to see artisans' works. It is a city that supports and encourages traditional cooking and craft.

It is a nice church but "La Soledad" is not only known for that but for the ice cream they sell down there! Hundreds of flavors of fresh fruit.

I was very impressed with St. Domingo but when I walked into Soledad, I felt very different than just visiting a church. The way the doors are set up and the whole plaza...it evokes a feeling of belonging. Sure St. Domingo is incredibly ornate and...More

Oaxaca has several churches in downtown, you can see one church almost each block, Basilica de la Soledad, has a nice square and is part of the great architecture of the area. The art inside the Church is sober in comparison to Santo Domingo. Outside...More
