Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I decided to spend my last hours at the top of Tepeyac Hill until late departure from Mexico City airport. The chapel out there is located within convenient distance from Basilica de Guadalupe and offers a rich set of view spots. I was there to bring my tablet with good memories during my waiting until leaving North America, for this time.

It was a fantastic day out there. I watched the peaks in the mountain area at Cumbres Del Ajusco National Park, where I lonely walked through during Christmas Day 2015 ...and I could not escape from the mind of this adventure. It was my second day in Mexico!

I am definitely pleased with my trip. The hill is located nearby the metro station La Villa-Basilica. It took 10 min to reach Basilica de Guadalupe area and 20 min approx. further on to reach Capilla Del Cerrito. The chapel is located on the top of Tepeyac Hill (Old Basilica) and has a fantastic outlook. I felt an indescribable relief when I reached it. The view from there is fantastic and all decorations of ancient monuments is outstanding!

The atmosphere up there was really calm, I would say. I believe it has the most stunning city view I ever seen. It is definitely a lovely place for enjoy the daylight and it's a pleasure to be there together with other visitors as well.

Finally, the public area closed. I gently picked down the tablet, turned my shadow left and walked right down the stairs together with other people from the nation. The darkness fell down over the city and the daily trip was over.

I got a bunch of memories from Mexico. Actually, all my adventure and travel experiences world wide are kept for advice and for the public. I can't let them go in capital, because it's a part of my soul :)

This was the first Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is the place were the two apparitions took place. The Basilica was constructed on the site of an earlier 16th century church and was finished in 1709. When this Basilica became dangerous because of the sinking foundation the New Basilica was built further up, visited a while back. This is a lovely Old Basilica, lovely alter, statues and a beautiful picture of the Virgin, there is a lovely statue of Pope John Paul II on the left of the Basilica.

This is a beautiful church on the outside and inside. Take time to look around and let the wonders of what you see sink in.

Our everyday visit to the Basilica of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe is excellent, since the hotel we stayed in was a 25-30 minutes walk.
The Teotihuacan day tour is 2-thumbs-up. Uber driver is the best, tour guide is the best.
The Xochimilco trip booked was rejected but we managed to get our trip there locally.
Thank you.

Even though you have climb a lot of stairs to get to this place it’s worth it. Well only if your going to pray. This chapel is a very sacred place. Please read the sign at entrance that says NO TAKING PICTURES!!!!!! The reason is not only out of respect of the sacred place this chapel means but also out of respect for those praying. So if you see any pictures taken inside of this chapel it’s from people who can’t read Spanish or have a total disrespect for the sacred place and the people praying.

This place was very lovely, many people up the hill for which you need some sort of condition because the city has altitude and you get tired quick, besides the pollution and crowds, you need patience, condition, aware of your pockets and good attitude, but the most important is Faith.

This small chapel stands in the place where, in December 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego.
