The area

Neighbourhood: Coyoacán
Once you step into Coyoacán (“Land of the Coyotes”) you'll find picturesque parks and cantinas that will transport you back to the colonial era thanks to the brick and stone details of the area. Iconic writers such as Trotsky and great painters like Frida Kahlo seeked refuge and inspiration in this area, and you can see the unique spirit of this neighborhood reflected in its colorful market where nieves, sopes and all kinds of traditional 'antojitos' are a must try. Restaurants and cafés throughout its peaceful paved streets contain traditional but unique murals and decorations, where one can enjoy a mezcal at noon or the best churros with a cup of coffee.

Coyoacan is a beautiful area to visit when in Mexico City and this park is the heart of the neighborhood. Nice place to relax and enjoy an ice cream or drink

In case you're in Coyoacan and haven't figured it out, this is the place! Weekends (and during the week too), the park and surrounding areas are thronged with families and couples strolling, shopping, sitting by the fountain, dancing, listening to strolling mariachis, licking ice cream cones, eating in the plethora of restaurants, cafés and bars -- you get the picture. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for?

A delightful park with its iconic coyote fountain, surrounding markets and treed, oasis feel. There are lots of restaurants nearby but also a great street food section across the square. There are also two artisan's markets and additional ones on the weekend. There are many historic buildings, ancient cathedral and traditional streets in the surrounding neighbourhood. Its a very relaxing place to spend time, eat ice cream and watch families stroll by.

There are two parks (gardens) next to each other in the center of the historic village; one is Jadin Centenario or know by Parque Centenario and Jadin Hidalgo. The Centenario is the one with water fountain and trees whild the Hidalgo is mainly a big plaza. The Centenario Park is very shady with trees and a lot of benches for visitors to sit and enjoy the busy scenes of restaurants and tour buses on the street. Great OASIS to the hot unshady historic village. The Church across the street is also open for visitors; worth a stop.

Nice park with a must see water fountain! There is a wonderful church called the church of San Juan Bautista that is a must to check out. The park and area itself are a great time.

We visited on the "día de los muertos" celebration and there were lots of people and a lot of good vibe. There is a lot of street food and a market just in front of the square.

Also near to frida kahlo museum.
