I appreciate the beauty found in artwork and in another person's belief system. The church is more amazing on the inside! I went with friends in the evening to avoid the crowds and am very thankful I did as it made our visit more intimate. There is a lot of history here! Don't forget to visit Juan Diego's garden found... More

There is a lineup for confession. People are lined up to have their children baptized. Truly remarkable demonstration of faith and devotion. The new cathedral is immense and impressive from many perspectives. The plaza is immense. I did enjoy the smaller chapel. It's on a human scale and I like how the seating is organized in a semi-circle... very equalitarian.... More

It has hourly Mass starting from 8am and ending 8pm. Its crowded from 11am onwards so go early. We went 9am Mass and its still manageable. The atmosphere was really great with all the people around coming to ask Our Lady for petitions. A must see and must do for Catholics.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the country and pilgrimages to this religious site are extremely popular. Make sure you have some time to visit both the old church (Antigua Basilica) built in the 1500's and the new one whose modern architecture makes it look more like a stadium, built in the 70's. While the origins of our... More

This is the most importan place of the mexican religion. It has a historical value. Avoid December the 12th that is the festivity of "La Virgen de Guadalupe" unless you want to be in a place really crowded.

This is the place where Don Diego had his vision of the Virgin of Guadalupe and where she left an impression of her likeness on Don Diego's cape which is on display in the Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe. People travel from all over the World to visit this site. In order to better the Mexican culture you'll have... More

The experience is not expressable. It is so good to see that people follow their culture modified By external influences.

Nice place to visit in family and take a walk to see the architecture. You can see the cloth of Juan Diego with the virgen encrusted on it.

If you visit Mexico City you have to come to La Basilica de Guadalupe! La virgen de Guadalupe is a key part of the Mexican culture. This place will take you to another dimension where faith becomes the only sense of life! Just wonderful!
