There were some nice art works here and there are several floors in a nice building. The entrance fee was $10 US for both of us so less than £5 UK each and would have been lower if paid in pasos but they only took cash and we didn’t haven local currency yet (note always better to pay local and not worth having US dollars on you, we’re from UK but had dollars to use up)
You have to pay extra if you want to take photos and get a badge to wear to say you can take them but we were happy just looking around and taking it in.
For us the reason very average is we don’t speak or read Spanish, and whilst would absolutely expect Spanish to be first there were only 2 pieces of painting in the entire building we saw with English translation and no audio tape provided or options given - so we really couldn’t learn much about the history and found this a little hard going. As was the way round which wasn’t very clearly laid out but they seemed very set in making you follow.
There were also MANY staff / helpers which although polite I felt constantly watched and in one case followed around which was a little intrusive almost like I was going to try and touch a painting maybe

This is a very large Art Museum of Mexico. It takes hours to walk through to see all of the artwork displayed. My partner and I spent all morning until 1pm viewing all the artwork displayed. There are a number of artworks by Diego Rivera spread throughout the museum for anyone who is interested in his art.

The gazillion employees take great delight in telling you where to walk, which way and such detail - all a little overbearing. The bulk of the art is religious with primarily a very dark tone. Some of the modern art was interesting and we loved the sculptures.

This is a wonderful museum in many ways. The architecture is fantastic, from the very old Colonial Spanish exterior to the gorgeous interior courtyard. There's a great collection of paintings inside from early portraits to landscapes to historical presentations to some modern works. In addition, there's arts of other types including jewelry and mementos of all shapes and sizes. There's also a fantastic sculpture room one could easily spend a couple hours in alone.

This Museum displays the best of Mexican art from the colonial days right up to the 1940s. My favourite pieces are at the tail end of the collection, so the Art Nouveau pieces. It occasionally hosts some grand special exhibits, like the impressive Otto Dix (German Expressionism) retrospective I saw in the Fall of 2016. The building on its own with its majestic staircases and rooms is worth a visit.

Unless you're a fan of colonial, religious oil paintings, you can probably skip this museum. Yes, it is centrally located. Yes, it has a gorgeous facade and the interior is also quite stunning. And yes, it will feel like a "must do" because it is one of the most famous museums in Mexico. However, much of the collection appears rather depressing because of the eras (and subsequent art) it represents. There is a lovely Diego Rivera piece here, and there were some other great 19th century impressionist-like paintings. Yet, we left feeling uninspired.

It’s certainly one of the Big Art museums of Mexico. You’ll find exactly what you’d expect in a large art museum. Probably 30-40% is the usual Catholic Art with people killing other people.

A very nice history of Mexican art, generally with emphasis from 16th to 19th centuries. There are some huge works and a lot of religious art. Some nice sculpture also. There are some 20th modern works but they were few. Signage was mostly in Spanish with some macro explanation in English. Admission was Mx$80 (a bit steep for Mexico) but Sundays is free.

The museum features a well-designed layout with spacious galleries that offer ample room to appreciate each artwork. The main entrance and stairs are particularly picturesque, often becoming a favorite spot for visitors to capture memorable photos. The permanent art collection on display provides a panoramic view of Mexico's fine arts development. 23K positive reviews should be a good indication why this museum is a must visit location while visiting Mexico City.

We enjoyed visiting the Museum. For me, the best part was the architecture inside and the modern/contemporary sections. There was also a cool non-permanent exhibit focused on food in Mexico but I'm unsure how long it will remain.
There were a lot of helpers there, but we still managed to go the wrong way at some point so navigating the place wasn't that pleasant. I'm sure they are people doing their job re: Covid, but we learned this through trial and error.

Sorry to say I did not see any of her paintings while at the Art Museums in Mexico City, DF. This painter seems to have exhibits in different parts of the world and her paintings can be bought at art sales.
