This museum is in very bad shape after reopening. It’s most important pictures (including an outstanding Frida Kahlo) are not there anymore. The visit is now restricted to one room only and the garden with sculptures that need badly some maintenance. It is paid museum (around 3,5 US$) that is not worth it.

Only 2 exhibits open. One was all about private parts - not my cup of tea. It was hot, I jaded a foldable fan. Staff approached me and told me I couldn’t use it. When I asked them if I couldn’t use my fan due to hot temp inside they changed their story and told me that I pointed to the art with the fan and to not do that again. I asked if I could use fan to fan myself the lady said yes. She followed me through out the visit. Then they don’t want you walking any other way except with marked arrows. On se bond exhibit the guard was staring at me with hate. This place is not worth the 80 pesos per person with all their restrictions and rules applied to just certain people. I saw and heard many visitors complaining after exiting establishment. Apparently I wasn’t the only harassed by staff despite speaking fluently Spanish.

The building itself is interesting- kind of like a 1960s space ship as you enter the main building. The grounds and their sculptures are worth mosying as well.
Sometimes much of the museum is inbetween exhibits, or devoted to more conceptual stuff; some may like it, I find it boring.
Exhibitions Dec 2019 however were very fulfilling. Even the usually bare fore-building was half-decked in a contemporary installation.
The main (and substantial) exhibition was titled 'Psychoanalysis and Indentity' (or something like that!). Despite the title, it was a mind blowing collection of 20th century Mexican paintings and mixed media works analogous with European Symbolism. I just hope the museum reopens before this exhibition is scheduled to end!
Also during my visit, a wide selection of COBRA art and atists. Sometimes I felt they got bogged down in theory, but on their own, the painting were often lively and colorful.
Last exhibition I think was Cuban design. Not my thing, but maybe appeals to some.
Unfortunately as I write this, most every museum in the world is closed.
Sundays are free.
If you want to make a day of modern art, the Museo Tamayo is nearby.
And ultimately, whether or not you enjoy depends on what's on.

My wife and I went here during a stay in Chapultepec Park, and we weren't super impressed. We couldn't really connect to much of the modern art. We know that modern art (unless you are a die-hard modern art enthusiast) can be hit-or-miss, and this sadly was more of a miss. Thankfully, the museum is small enough that you can briskly move through it in a short amount of time. And its saving grace is that it houses Frida Kahlo's most famous work, Las Dos Fridas. My wife and I feel that our trip to this museum was almost a pilgrimage just to see this piece by Frida!

This museum is small and at the time we visited only a few exhibits were available. However, I did enjoy a couple of the exhibits. Maybe check to see what is being shown before making a special trip there. We combined it with visiting the Castillo as it is just a short walk down the hill. The museum is small; so, it won't take long to visit.

It was free to enter, and although the modern art was impressive, we went here as we thought we could see a Frida Kahlo piece. Sadly it was not being exhibited at the time.
You had to wear masks inside the museum and they had a one way system in place.
It was a nice thing to do whilst wandering through the Bosque de Chapultepec.

I quite enjoyed it, spending over two hours here. I especially liked the small gallery with a temporary exhibit of a photographer, Alvarez.
I especially like a large black and white drawing of a muscular Mexican woman dancing, who represented the Mexican mestizo/a the blending and celebration of indigenous and Spanish cultures
There is another large, temporary exhibit of the gay and LBGTQ scene in Mexico in the 20th Century, including the scary AIDS years, with paintings, photos, newspaper clippings, some of which are disturbing, others quite moving. I discovered that in order to avoid using masculine and feminine endings, the x is used place of the o or a. Eg. "Mexicanxs"

There are wonderful elements from the permanent collection that are a must see, and the seasonal exhibition on Pop Art was provocative and compelling. There is also an adjacent outdoor sculpture museum that is a must see. This is a very important cultural stop and interesting building architecturally. Great for a few hours stop over.

Modern art museum that includes works by 20th century and contemporary Mexican artists (Rivera, Siqueiros, Orozco, Tamayo, O'Gorman... as well as The Two Fridas, by Frida Kalho). There are also temporary exhibitions and you can visit the sculpture garden. On Sundays it is free.

Located in Chapultepec Park, the Museum of Modern Art of Mexico City exhibits works by Mexican artists of the 20th century such as Tamayo, Orozco, Rivera, Costa, Lozano, Charlot... . The painting of Frida Kahlo’s two Fridas can also be seen. In the garden, walk among the sculptures. Personally, I liked very much and especially the works of the period 1930 - 1960. Entrance via the Paseo de la Reforma. Price: 90 MXN/person.
