Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Mineralogy Museum is located about a kilometer up the hill, toward Dolores Hidalgo, from the Alhondiga. The final bit is a stiff walk up several flights of stairs. But, if one like rocks and minerals, it is pretty cool place. Tens of thousands of sample are stored in glass cases in a large (think high school gymnasium) room with a balcony, all precisely labelled. The "guard" is a pretty funny guy that enjoyed exchanging his bad English with our bad Spanish.
If you are not a rock person, however -- skip it!

This excellent museum, more commonly known locally as el Museo de Mineralogia, is on the campus of the Escuela de Minas (School of Mines) on the outskirts of town. It has over 20,000 specimens and is considered to be one of the world's great minerology exhibits.
In theory, you can get to the musem by taking the Presa-San Javier bus and hiking up La Valenciana Road. I took a cab up and walked back.

If you're monolingual English, you need to take your own guide to fully appreciate this tour. In addition, The narrow steps are steep and can be very treacherous. You'll need to be in good physical shape with no hip, foot or knee issues. However, it is a fascinating tour.

It was cool to see the mine. It was cool to go down. I am not a Spanish speaker so I didn't understand anything the guide said. My friends and I made this place fun by the pictures we were taking. The guide probably thought we were locos.

The mine was neat to see, and the tour guide was very nice. However, there were quite a few people on the tour and the guide could not cater to english speakers. A walk through the tunnels in town and a visit to Valencia Mines would make this trip unnecessary.
