Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice small museum. Easy to walk through and get an intro to Mexican art. The ceiling murals are stunning.

Before I called an Uber today, I checked to see if the space was open via website, Yelp and by calling. There was no indication that it would be closed on a Friday afternoon. I was hoping to see another mural from Orozco, but came to a locked front gate. Apparently my group wasn’t the only one that was disappointed; others came and left as well. I took a couple of exterior photos to post, but that’s it. Sad.

We came here to see a Goya exhibit, and ended up seeing so much more. The place is amazing, and the whole aura of it is great. Beautiful murals by Jose Clemente Orozco, nice history and super architecture. Will definitely come back.

This is a museum that includes everything from popular art, photography, classic art, folk art, and special events. Exhibitions change throughout the year, often from month to month. We were there for a photographic exhibition of the geographical changes in the Border between the US and Mexico from 1848 until today. It was fascinating. The entry fee vary depending on whether you are there for a lecture, a special event, or just a tour of the museum. But it is usually very modest since it is owned and operated by the University of Guadalajara. Don't forget to ask them about the special murals downstairs.

To be fair we went specifically for the Orozco murals but were pleasantly surprised to find a great display of Goya’s Follies etchings. Part of the display was interactive that allowed you to view and compare some of the monochrome etchings against the finished paintings. This allowed you to appreciate the sponsored finished pieces verses the true sentiment of the painter. Very well done and free.

This is a small art museum connected to the University,. .We went for the Murals by Orozco (which were under renovation). We were disappointed. There were other exhibits that were interesting including a fashion exhibit on Balenciaga. Also included were paiintings and photographs. The museum is free but there is a box for a gratuity. The building is architecturally interesting inside and out. I would go back

The building itself is very nice both inside and out. When I visited in October 2016 it had two fantastic exhibitions. One was about the works of fashion designer Balenciaga. Even though I am not a fashionista I enjoyed the exhibit with its many dresses and portraits by famous painters such as Rivera and Orozco of women wearing Balenciaga fashions. I also loved the exhibition of the works of Mexican artist Ismael Vargas. I admit that I never heard of him before stopping at the museum but I am no a fan. His work is clever, funny and meaningful all at the same time. A visit to this exhibition is highly recommended.

Revolving exhibits are showcasing Mexican artists. The building alone is worth seeing even if a particular artists does not interest you. Even better, no admission fee.

We want to see the art exhibits on Tuesday August 20. Is there a cafe to buy snacks? If not any recomendations. I assume it will be open that day and not closed for exhibit prepations.
