A government building in the middle of the historic center. The building itself is beautiful but the grandeur of Orozco's Hidalgo mural is spectacular. And it's free.

"Palacio de Gobierno" has plenty of architectural jewels, sculptures, and paintings, and two amazing murals from Jose Clemente Orozco, which inspire liberty and human equality to the world. Jose Clemente Orozco also created other murals in the "Hospicio Cabanas", within walking distance from the "Palacio de Gobierno". The first mural is at the end of the stairs leading to the... More

This is a beautiful building with frescos worth seeing. All the beautifully preserved wooden doors and banisters are charming. Well presented historical information.

If you are not familiar with his work, there are guides that will give a very thorough explanation of it. The building itself is beautiful and there are... More

As a former elected official, I love to visit government buildings around the world. This visit was especially important because of the Orozco frescoes. The huge frescos above the grand staircase are magnificent. Also, don't miss the frescos in congress hall. I am so glad we made this stop to the Governor's Palace

While the building is architecturally interesting, the main attractions are the Murals and the rotating exhibit, We had a great a guide hired through an agency and this made all the difference when viewing the Murals of Orozco. Some of the Murals are on a stairway and depicts the darker aspects of Mexican history. There are also murals in the... More
